Ruh roh!

If this is the case, I still think Colliton may lean more towards Delia than Subban.

Guess we'll see how this plays out.

- Tyler Cameron

How it plays out Tyler...is we virtually have ZERO chance now. No way we get by the Oil without Crawford.

Bring on the #1 overall pick!!!

You're saying Nylander is better defensively than Dinky?
- rpeters01

I think he said Kane is better defensively than either Cat or Strome.

Between Kane, Nylander, D-Cat and Strome....should be 4, if not 5 Selke's in the near future!!!

Hossa learning to be a 2 way demon from Datspuke probably worked better than 92, 12, and 17 learning the nuances of defensive play from 88...just sayin...

For sure!

To be fair to Nylander, there were flashes of defense. Not Selke defense, but......maybe something to build on.

No, I'm pretty sure he was implying I'm an idiot for suggesting that line (92 17 88).

Though that was way too tactful for Elbows which makes me wonder if his daughter hacked his account again.

I would still flip DeBrincat and Kubalik.
- Tyler Cameron

Agree. If Colliton splits up Toews and Kubalik he should be fired. Unless of course they are trying for the #1 draft pick. Which if that is the case I am ok with Kubalik playing on the 3rd line.

Goaltenders don't stick around if they do not have ability. Goaltenders can get hot. Although the choices behind Crawford have not done what he had in playoffs, they could play better than you expect. Limit the soft goals. Team defense is critical; forwards must help out. Forwards cannt decide to help out as they should once down 1-0 in series. We have Kane Keith Seabrook Crawford whio can draw upon playoff and Cup experience...they can reach back and deliver in the clutch. But if others are not engaged properly, it won't matter whom we have in net.

Carlsson over Seeler, Koekkoek and maybe Maata too. He will make check, skates as well oir better and the experience factor may be negligible. Maata looks slow against them then Carlsson gets the nod

Seabrook is playing unless he is just unable due to physical health reasons. DeHahn is clearly one our best and he will he in there.....hopefully his shoulder is strong enough

The Oilers might be overconfidant if Crawford is out. If you obsess about their offense, we loose. If you play a fast pace skating and physical game, be responsible, defensively. Our defense and even goaltending minus Crawford can upend or win against their bad defense and most likely mediocre goaltending

I smell a draft rat...

The Pittsburgh Penguins will be voluntarily sidelining nine players from their training camp roster due to potential secondary exposure to an individual who had contact with a person that has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.

Assuming the teams stay relatively healthy enough to play normal rosters throughout, then IMO, any NHL team that wins 4 consecutive 7 game series against other NHL team is a worthy Stanley Cup Champion. If one of the teams from the qualifying round wins it all, it could be argued that it is even more impressive than any other year .
- Ogilthorpe2

I have to disagree .The Stanley Cup is awarded to the team that plays a tough regular season and then engages in Post Season immediately following the conclusion of said season . Not 5 months after the season stop play. Not in two arenas playing a Pee Wee tournament format . This is a sham playoff and more resembles a Canada Cup tournament .

I would push Wirtz to pay off the team that plays Pitt to throw the games, score into their own net even. The entire thing is a scam - might as well place side bets on the games and fix it even more than the league is already.

Interesting. For me, I know it's not a huge position, but I wish we had someone other than Highmore on the roster up front.

While he will probably end up a good d-man at some point, I worry about Boqvist being asked to play against the Oilers top guys too much. I can't see him being able to contain Draisaitl or McDavid effectively in this high pressure situation. I'm hoping to be wrong, but it's a tall order for Boqvist IMO. I think the pairs might change as the series goes on, but I think De Haan could end up as an option on the right side (since he can play both) if they opt to bring in Carlsson to possibly get some defending in. I also choose to be optimistic about Seabrook actually gaining some jam back after surgery. He has had a decent amount of recovery time and I could see him bumping the lackluster Koekkoek.

This is just my take anyway. Something like

Keith - De Haan
Carlsson - Murphy
Maatta - Seabrook

Give the second pair the Dzone starts, shelter the third pair a bit. I can't wait to see what actually plays out though.

- breadbag

Good to see you post again, breadbag.

If prioritizing experience and defense first, then I would roll with those D pairs. Carlsson acquitted himself well as a reliable defender in his 6-game stint. But if he struggles, insert Koekkoek or any of the youth who impress in camp.

The Hawks could also shorten the bench as the game goes along so more minutes could go to the veterans anyway, particularly Keith, Murphy, de Haan, Maatta, and possibly Seabrook if he proves to be fully recovered.

Much as some might wish to think, thee is no weight or increased odds for Penguins to draw the first pick. If it happens, the owners ought to fire Bettman for allowing this unfair result. There is no reason any team should jump over another if their record was better. The fairness doctrine should win out over dreamers who like lottery. The lottery is for fools to waste money on. Most people do not stay ahead in their spending against wins in lottery. Everyone knows that. But people want escsapiism.and to dream sometimes more than following prudent financial planning.

May not be a bylaw but it sure is traditions ,something the NHL use to take pride in before the Bettman gimmick hockey took hold
