All good but incomplete. As of now Harvard has only online courses & no hockey. So til hockey starts up he isn’t obligated to retain his amateur status.

Rights slide for ELC purposes & are not indefinite. RFA rights I believe if you look at Tryamkin you will see we have him til 27yrs old.

- Nighthawk

What part? Plus the no obligation part makes no sense. Regardless of college resumption season the NHL says he can only sign in this 3 day window if not he has to wait until the next one if he wants to go pro. (NHL/AHL/CHL/Euro leagues where Canucks can loan him.

Only exception is KHL and like listed in Cap friendly, Podz, go look at the link again

https://www.capfriendly.c...eams/canucks/reserve-list

Then he would be indefinite status because NHL has no agreement with KHL. Believe NHL does that to protect drafted players from circumventing rights. Where RFA' are limited 5 year rights like Tryamkin.

Nice bacon adds a nice pop of taste 👍

Chilliwack sweet should be now or anytime soon

Waist high only. Weather has been poop. If we can get a week or two of straight sunshine then it will give it a kick. Blueberries soon though. Next week maybe.

No soup for you (Sienfeld reference) .... its hockey talk time... lol... so here's a general comment not directed at you...

For all the talk on Rathbone have been posting for days its Aug. 15, 2022 to sign him NOT next summer. See link below if you need proof.

https://www.capfriendly.c...eams/canucks/reserve-list

So if he doesn't sign this window the Canucks can't have him play pro in their next season. Though if that is still on they can try next window when college season officially over. Both those start and end dates on NHL and NCAA or Harvard Ivy league are TBD at the moment. So they may overlap.

Also, Rathbone can't drop out and sign with any other league NHL has agreements with other then KHL. But then Canucks keep his NHL rights indefinate like Podz. as posted in the link.

Hey Reuby, from Ed Willes of The Province.

The salary cap will rise from US$81.5 million to US$83.5 million over the next four years and the Stanley Cup thingy set for August will save them about US$500 million.

I read that this morning. Had a good chuckle.

Out here in Chilliwack the first blueberries were grown under tarps. Most of those are for export.

Unbelievably bad weather for lower mainland.

Good topic until games or more training camp news. Teams have some decisions to make on what players they want to fit under the cap with new CBA.

Its funny how they say Vegas can bring in prospects and play with less players on the roster. Wouldn't Canucks who have better prospects be able to do same?

Plus the whole LE not walking away from $5M on mutual termination option. Like to expand. Excuse the length but bored on lack of hockey banter.

Other players terminate, like Bagozian, when they still want to play then be waived. But say mutual termination isn't workable because he wants the money since $31M for doing nada isn't enough. That's on top of the other millions he's earned up to now bringing him close to retirement. The reality of no role may get him to hang them up. Save face.

But lets say he's Trump shameless and selfish. Which despite LE's disappointing production hasn't shown that. So if it was only about money owed and not playing why couldn't Canucks (who spend) press the only valid cap flexibility move they have and do a side deal to pay LE. Consultant or advisor role retirement for example.

Or LE agrees to go on LTIR until other trades or injuries allow for his return. The NHL after screwing the Canucks with Cap recapture may take whatever chronic medical excuse made without scrutiny.

My guess though its going to be a clean move. Mutual termination because he wants to still play in the NHL. Or retirement with consulting/advisor role pay out.

It was 'leaked' because Matt Sekeres was desperate for attention. No other purpose.

I agree he never really brings anything of substance. I don’t find him particularly useful seems to love the sound of his own voice.

Was beautiful today, even got a bit of a sunburn. It’s mid July though and we haven’t really felt some good heat yet.

lol I guess you saw others saying that about Cap friendly being wrong like in this link....

https://www.reddit.com/r/...et_rathbone_to_sign_this/

Based upon his college years there are 2 played see below.
https://www.eliteprospect...ayer/311766/jack-rathbone

So cap friendly is right but that's if Rathbone stays in college on measuring college time to end rights to sign.

There is an out clause for Rathbone if he wants to go UFA before 2022. He has to drop out of college or declare he's turning pro. Here's the break down of all the NHL college player rules that was well done.

https://canucksarmy.com/2...a-free-agent-before-2022/

The summary of which is the following:

"It also means that the earliest he could be eligible for unrestricted free agency is June 1st, 2021 – provided that he announces his departure on or before May 2nd, 2021; otherwise, he’ll be eligible from 30 days after whichever date he leaves school. If Rathbone returns to Harvard for his senior year and remains there until January 1st, 2022, the exemption closes and the Canucks will have his exclusive rights until August 15th, 2022."

I am sure you read articles like this

https://theprovince.com/s...league-delays-next-season

It comes down right now to turning pro and burning a year of the ELC or staying college eligible until the next signing window.

Saw that yesterday. Shameful even though it's all about the integrity of the game.
