Yeah if I remember correctly this is when cap space really became a topic, instead of just trading player X for him.

That's back when Luongo was never going to cause recapture penalties. Anyways, we were idiots back then for thinking it might happen. I guess we're still idiots, but that's the whole group.

Fine.

I prefer Tree.

I can't recall ever being impressed with any of the #6 Dmen from this year.

- dbot

I'd like Tree to have a look too, is he eligible? What's the ruling from the NHL on reserve players signed and allowed to be in the 2020 return to play?

Lui should’ve retired on LTIR. I’m pissed at him for that. Idc how little it was it’s more than nada.

There's no cap problem. You can trade a bad contract, you just have to through in a pick or a prospect. If you can't trade them just waive them. Anyway, it's all moot as they'll be compliant, as they are every year.

I think it's status quo until the injury bug hits.

Well Fatty did beat out Benn at times but wouldn't that hold true for better talented players like OJ and Rafferty having a good camp. Gaudette forced his way onto the team last camp.

Also, Fatty is not journeyman with not any real play off experience. Whereas Benn's girlfriend is is due for delivery around game start time. Which means going back to Dallas and having to 2 week quarantine again upon return.

Easy now, i've seen enough minions posts.

Imagine if one was posted every time someone fluffed Benning? My opinion of his body of work has changed somewhat over the past 3 years, but man he still deserves criticism. He also does deserve some praise for his work at the draft table IMO.

Yeah he got offered a position with the Panthers so money covered and gives him a role. What most want to belong and be meaningful. Maybe Canucks can do same with LE and give them the cap flexibility they want going forward.

Plus, looks like NHL changing of rules on cap recapture will help the Wild and Preds but not Canucks.

I'd give Rafferty a shot before Tree. I also doubt this scenario has a chance at the moment.

Yeah GMJB has a mixed record. But its not time to review his job as he got an extension. Its more about where do Canucks go from here and if he stumbles on that then his job is on the line.

So are there Cap problems or more like cap decisions to be made on who to keep and what direction to go. Like with keeping vets over adding more of the GMJB's proclaimed NHL caliber prospects.

It looks like the Canucks have the money to sign and keep their stars and core going forward. So isn't the cap decisions more on role and support players?

He deserves both criticism & praise but the criticism has a shelf life if he doesn’t repeat it. On recent moves he’s far ahead than when he started off.

You would to if your present employer offered a role to keep you relevant. Doubt you would say no because you would feel loyalty to not costing your former employer some restraint on their spending.

It is a valid subject for conversation, for those that get a bee in their bonnet regardless of which way you look at it is asinine.

The whole cap discussion is based on semantics by both sides, and once people dig in their heels in doesn’t matter what or how people try to get their point across

Seriously to get all hot and bothered over a silly subject that not one person has any control over is juvenile.

Time to become functioning adults.

Yes that's what we're pondering. Like sign Petey and QH extensions first to determine what's left for everyone else this off season going forward under a fixed cap.

Could he not have agreed to an office position while on LTIR, did he really need to say (frank) you Vancouver Canucks. Pronged worked for NHL Office while on long term.
