Hey what are your thoughts of how the possibility of covid being a long term problem in the states might affect UFAs thinking about signing in Canada?
- Canada Cup

It would definitely be on my mind.

Higher taxes in Canada versus a higher chance of dying in the US.

I have to think that it would figure into the equation when making a decision.

we are not here to tackle and solved world problems. we come here to escape them.
- dmnted

The only way to tackle and solve world problems is by speaking about issues with a wide range of people who hold different positions. For that, this is my Graceland.

Maybe Trudeau should start with stopping selling weapons to Saudi Arabia.
I'd be more offended by that than over a sports team name if I were you.

Three things in life are certain :

Death, taxes, and a failure of US leadership.

Meh, it wasn't always so bad. There was a time when leaders tried to lead despite special interests, not in lock-step with them.

I know, right? It’s just as bad as capitalism, which is tax cuts for the rich and death to the poor.

Again...missing the point.

LA doled out the big contracts to kopitar, doughty, and quick AFTER they won 2 cups...ditto for chicago with kane, toewes, snd seabrook.

You can’t pay 4 forwards OVER half your cap...surround them with junky forwards...no defense and an unproven goalie and expect to win a cup...

You have GUARANTEED that you will never win. Not to mention your drafting...the source of quality players for cheap...is just pathetic.

AND you don’t even get a 1st this year??? Huh? Double huh??

See ya...

- bruceflyers

I don't get your beef with Dinkus since he's given out those nice contracts. BFD!
The 1st was the price to pay to move a contract to make some cap space for the above. They don't have many pick in this upcoming draft so they're going to have to find some gems in the latter rounds
You don't need to like it.

You don't know about the GUARANTEED. They could win this year and go and a 3 year run or they can tank! BFD!

I'd jump at the chance, but this might be one of those jobs where straight white males ages 25-40 need not apply

- PatC80

Weber might, only 6 more years

I read they adjusted the cap recapture thingy so teams dont get a stupid hit if they retire

Again, it’s not my hill. The National Council of American Indians is the largest and most representative native organization in the country. It is not one of the more “radical” groups like AIM. They are the ones saying this about ALL teams, not me. They are the ones, not me that opposed to a case-by-case approach because they believe using Indian names is harmful.

If the major national organization and the one local group that had been working with the Hawks are opposed, what is your case by case argument in favour of keeping the name?

The Cleveland Indians don’t use the dreaded R word but they’re reviewing their name. But none of this is good enough for you because of your radar?
