Assuming this is accurate - and I have no reason to think otherwise - hrr would climb to $4.2B. Half of that is $2.1B, which means the players still owe $400M to the owners (minus the amount of the forfeited last paycheck).
Without the additional revenue, the players would owe the owners $600M.
This shutdown cost some big money. - mohel
That's the way I see it.

I kinda hope he can't ... be nice to have plenty of opportunities to use the word 'agape' ... and I don't mean the anglicized version of one of the 4 Greek words for love. |

Saad has now joined voluntary practices. By last count, the only players on the active roster left to not participate yet are Crawford, Dach, Keith, Seabrook, Shaw, and Smith. |

I disagree. The real question is if he will allow the puck to deflect off him for the game winning goal in OT of the 7th game of a Western final.

Is Dach still living in Seabrook's basement? Probably back home in Saskatoon or at cottage. |

So if you had the choice to just let your business go under or try move on in the world we live in today you'd just let your business die? If it really bothers you that much, don't watch. - GPHawksfan
Funny this business did not go under after shutting down in 2005.If I had a business raking in the money the NHL dose I would not be rushing back in well the pandemic is still raging on . And in the name of the public good My business would not to be putting undue pressure on testing and PPE need elsewhere to save life's .
This tournament in the middle of the summer in empty arenas playing 3 games a day with no travel or home ice advantage or disadvantage starting 5 months after play ended is not a NHL playoff and is not worthy of a Stanley Cup presentation . They should dig up the old Canada Cup and present that be much more appropriate .Bettman and his greedy owners have been selling out any integrity the NHL ever had for cheap gimmicks and corporate shmucks . |

I was trying to block that particular play. The part I recall most vividly is the look Rosy gave him right after it happened. |

Hi Theo - Dach showed up today, too. He's in the pics on the Hawks' site. BTW- I wasn't active when you were subbing in, but read the columns. Really appreciated your thoughts and analysis once again. |

Thank you again to pdx for answering your question.
I would imagine Dach went home to stay with his own family once the shutdown started given the Seabrooks have kids and Dach is not a relative.
When Canadian juniors start up again, wonder what the regulations and restrictions will be for billet families.
On that topic, I've always wondered if anyone on these boards is a billet family or has been one in the past. |

Costs
- Travel via private jet charters
- Lodging at 5 star hotels while on the road
- Per diem for each player while on the road
- Rent for using city owned arenas and other practice facilities
Probably missed some. - boilermaker100
Sure, only if they are playing though

Back to Wyatt Kalynuk. Lazerus had an article on him at the Athletic. Says some scouts compare him to Leddy. He was the captain at Wisconsin his junior year - last year - and QBd the PP. 7G and 21A in 36 games last season. - boilermaker100
The Hawks signing Kalynuk rumour feels like the Hawks trading for Sorokin. Let’s not get our hopes up. |

Hawks have issued a statement about the team name and logo. Does not sound like any analysis of a change is imminent.

In my experience, the Blackhawks have always been extremely respectful of Black Hawk.
As an added bonus, it's the best team insignia in all of sports, bar none. |

The silver lining with Kalynuk is that he has addressed two common concerns with D prospects: can they actually play defense and can they keep up with the rugged aspects of hockey.
He has shown to be a responsible defender in college and has dedicated himself to getting stronger in addition to naturally maturing physically. How will that translate to the pros is the next question.
Contrast that with highly rated yet controversial Sharks D prospect Merkley. Putting aside allegations of being a bad apple, he has been highly criticized for not caring about commiting to defense.
Jeremie Poirier is one blueliner I hope the Hawks steer clear of in the draft. He could go late 1st round or in the 2nd but I've read reports on him not caring one iota about his own end. |

I see both sides of it, and I’m fully prepared for the inevitable changes when they happen...I feel it’s only a matter of time, and I really am ok with that.
Funny though, Chicago Blackhawks....both Words are Native American in origin, funny that I’ve not heard anyone suggest the city of Chicago change it’s name. |

I remember one poster (z3?) was very bullish on Merkley. I'm glad they stayed away from him! As for the Hawks 2nd round pick, I still hope Justin Barron is available due to the questions surrounding the blood clot issue. |

I think you're right it being Z3 who was very high on Merkley. Haven't seen Z3 post in a long while but then again so haven't a few other regulars ever since the shutdown.
In addition to Barron, I also like Braden Schneider as a defensive defenseman to consider if he's still on the board in the 2nd round or if the Hawks somehow nab another 1st rounder in the latter half. |

With such a late pick in the 2nd round, I doubt Barron would be available, but I'm still holding out hope that his medical issues (a) leave him there for us, and (b) don't hurt his career.

The Wild Onion community is very unorganized and not very vocal.
The sports teams are / were named after people - either generic (Redskins, Indians, Fighting Sioux...) or individuals (Black Hawks...).
I’m in the “inevitable” column, too - I’d prefer it didn’t happen, but I’m not a Native American.... |
