I plaayed with Lex Tiahnybik a goalie who was hearing impaired. Stan befriended Lex and his father Irv (family owns Leon’s sausage), and started th Stan Mikita hockey school for the death. Stan didn’t just lend his name, he poured his heart and soul in the Endeavor.

That is a great story .Stan was a very unique individual .Never had the privilege of meeting him sure wish I had .Stan and Tony were my favorites growing up .Good guy |

Would be an interesting conspiracy if all the top teams players get Covid and move up in the draft because there is no reason to win this cup. Before it's over the entire Blue's team may be out.
Been saying for three months they should call 2019-20 over and start with '20-21. - rpeters01
No kidding hey .They already have enough stink on the draft lottery why not even more on the draft itself .Be lots of stink on this tournament in the middle of the summer in empty arenas in a desperate attempt to crown a champion 6 months after play ended . Bettman and his greedy gang are throwing any integrity left in the NHL down the toilet for quick money on the back of a pandemic |

Oof. You guys just snaked Wyatt Kalynuk from our farm system because we couldn’t offer him a contract.
Congrats. Your depth on the blue line just got better with this nice puck moving defenseman prospect.
Everyone seems to think he’s got real NHL talent. He’ll be playing for you sooner than later. |

Not to get overly excited about yet, I’ve heard
Any scout would say to take “a flyer” on him due to the way he reads plays and so smooth skating. More I’ve heard: And the kid has come a ways put in the time, needed to be stronger. But he needs AHL time. Learn to take the five foot pass on break out.
I go with the comment AEL_FoX made. Shea’s out but take a long look at another dman. |

Don't know much about Kalynuk either. For now until both prove their worth at the pro level, this signing is essentially a wash as he replaces Ryan Shea who did the same thing by electing to test the market than sign with the team that drafted him.
From what I've read so far on him, he's considered one of the top offensive D-men in the NCAA yet is responsible in his own end. Superb skater. Plays smart and knows where to position himself to make optimal plays. Good first pass out of the zone. - AEL_Fox
Thanks for the Kalynuk report Theo.. Sounds like some potential there.

Responsible on defense with excellent (apparently) offensive skills for a blue liner - why was he only a 7th round pick? - StLBravesFan
He had an arrangement with Stan where in, he'd sandbag his whole career, so Stan could sign him to a cheap ELC

I don't think Seabs will be ready to play even after a training camp period. But, his presence is the locker room is invaluable if the Hawks want to actually do some damage. I'm interested to see what he brings now. Hopefully we will get to see some camp footage and see if maybe he gets 1/2 step back. I really think he is trying this because training camp for next season probably won't be until January at this point. He might as well try to stretch out those hips now if he is medically cleared. |

Normally, really bad things happen after monster contracts. I hope for the best. I actually like watching him play. - I Am The Breadman
I do too no matter how painful it is to realize the Bears could have had him without giving up extra draft capital like they did for Mitch.
Agree with Elbows though. It's not hard to see how this will hinder KC's ability to either keep good players around him on offense, or they'll just forego defense and hope Mahomes and crew can win games 63-56. |

He had to overcome the stigma (not sure if it was a stigma, but an issue) whether he could play against his peers. He had to put in time to get stronger, so he could succeed on ice. He sounds like an exciting prospect with his offensive reads and skill)skating but he needs to learn start making the five foot passes and improve certain ways in his mind thiinking out hi
choices as it relates to defensive part of game. But he is not a weak defender sort. He needs some AHL time. Maybe not much. How good could he be........ Let's not even go there until we see him in camp and play a bit. |

I agree, going to be an issue, especially because rosters get trimmed, that's not working in anyone's favor. |

The thing about the modern NFL is that you can have an unbalanced lineup and win. If you can be truly dominant on one side of the ball, you only need to be average on the other side. Seems like the Chief’s will be loading up on O. They will need a bunch of cheap young defenders, who are just able to hold their own, and they’ll be OK.
That said, if I were building the team, I’d prefer to be dominant on D, and roll with an average O.
IMO. |

Low round pick who has blossomed as a bonafide prospect. Outstanding skater, good instincts and tremendous offensive upside from the blueline. And is better in his own end than many elite puck movers.
This was a tremendous sign by Stan. |

It's been the Bears M.O. for forever and has worked once and almost worked again if not for "Rex is our Quarterback".
Can't blame it all on Rex, but a little bit better QB and offense wins the Bears a second title. No shame really losing to Peyton though. |

From NBC News:
Nearly three dozen professional hockey players have tested positive for the coronavirus and the World Series champions shut down training camp as pro sports still try to move forward with a planned re-start during the pandemic, the NHL and the Washington Nationals announced Monday.
The NHL has tested 396 players and 23 were positive, plus the league is aware of 12 other players who have separately tested positive since June 8, officials said.
That's 5.8%, 8.8% if you add the additional 12.
That's before even starting training camp, where players will be in close proximity, indoors, and unmasked.
Not sure they'll ever finish the 2019-20 season. |

Read the write up this morning from Lazerus in the Athletic. Better to have more kicks at the can and if too many of them happen to prove NHL worthy, it's a good problem to have. |

That's definitely the best way to eliminate all risk. And revenue/pay.

I read the article about the cap. my guess is the buyout MAtta. Craw probably can only get a 1 year deal. I do not buy out smith. better to have him come off the books the next year. Seabs contract My god his agent did a masterful Job. He made Bowman look like a 2 year old. not only is it the worst contract in the league its virtually buyout proof when you factor in front loading a signing bonus. Best case I can come up with is 1)he waives for the EXP draft. Seattle will never take him. 2 he retires in 2 years after he gets his 4mil bonus. At that point he is owed 5.5 Mil for his last 2 seasons. Might be the best hope. LTIR really is hard to make work. |

There may be more at play here than simple greed (although I'm not discounting it). Someone correct me if you have the information, but I thought that if the league didn't televise a certain number of games there was a penalty that had to be paid back to the network(s).
Considering how determined they were to complete this season at any cost, I can't help but think that is the case. Also, let's face it, the NHL is not as fiscally strong as the other leagues. This could have a lot to do with the viability of the league going forward. |

It's "almost impossible" to be as bad at acquiring QB's as the Bears have been the last 70 years. Everybody luck's into something by accident once in a while, except the Bears even when they are trying. McNown, Grossman, Trubisky... |

I've said many times Steve Young replaced Montana, Tomzack Harbaugh and Fuller replaced McMahon, give the Bears Young and SF the "Three Stooges" and see what the Super Bowl ledger looks like... Young and those Bears defenses, Colliton could have coached the Bears and won.

I've got Doug Wilson with M.E Vlasic and Erik Karlsson on line 1...
EK: signed through age 37 with a dodgy ankle (a detriment to the one thing that makes him elite) at $11.5M/yr.
MEV: Signed through age 39 with a $7M/yr hit.
I'm not saying Seab's deal is good. I've railed on it many times myself. But it is not the worst. Not mention he had three major surgeries to fix significant lingering problems. While I'm not expecting a vast improvement, it is not out of the picture that he has notable resurgence. |
