uh oh, if there are playoffs, it might truly be the survival of the fittest.

It's probably not going to happen, but they had to make an effort to see what will or won't work going forward. This virus poop isn't going away so life with it needs to be figured out

I still think the season should have been cancelled. But it will be nice to have hockey back.

I still won’t be shocked if the Stanley Cup is not awarded this season.

An incredibly smart move by people on both sides who usually don’t make incredibly smart moves - in front of the TV negotiations, future uncertainties because of the a Coronavirus - now 6 years to get it all settled down.

Me, either. But, having the bubble set up seems like a better way to go. Baseball seems chaotic by comparison.

NFL is just as much of a disaster. 53 man rosters, plus coaches and trainers... That has crap show written all over it.

Their big advantage is time. We'll see if they use it well, or if things change regarding the virus.

Hawks sign 23 year old Wayne Kalynuk, a D out of Wisconsin to a 2 year ELC contract. Originally a 7th round choice of the Flyers in 2017, he became a UFA by not signing with them during the signing window.

Anyone heard of him or seen him play?

I could not agree more this season should have been canceled . This sham tournament is a joke .Post season is not 5 months after the season ended . Should have just waited another 2 months and started the next season safely and maybe on time . Now we will possibly have two tainted seasons .

I wasn't alive when Stan Mikita played

Went from leading the team in penalty minutes every year to a Lady Bing Trophy winner and captain of the team.

You missed a great hockey player and a better person, #21 went from mega penalties to winning a couple of Lady Byng trophies. He totally changed his on ice attitude from his early years.
- Angotti

You're right about Mikita being a great guy. I met him long after his playing days and the guy couldn't thank me enough for remembering him.

Don't know much about Kalynuk either. For now until both prove their worth at the pro level, this signing is essentially a wash as he replaces Ryan Shea who did the same thing by electing to test the market than sign with the team that drafted him.

From what I've read so far on him, he's considered one of the top offensive D-men in the NCAA yet is responsible in his own end. Superb skater. Plays smart and knows where to position himself to make optimal plays. Good first pass out of the zone.

Normally, really bad things happen after monster contracts. I hope for the best. I actually like watching him play.

Responsible on defense with excellent (apparently) offensive skills for a blue liner - why was he only a 7th round pick?

My guess, 1 of either injury, or finally blooming into a skilled player.

One report I read talked about the reason why Kalynuk was drafted so low being his lack of strength and fear that he would struggle even against his peer group.

Since being drafted, he has put in the work to get stronger and has started to physically mature naturally where that concern is not one anymore.

I plaayed with Lex Tiahnybik a goalie who was hearing impaired. Stan befriended Lex and his father Irv (family owns Leon’s sausage), and started th Stan Mikita hockey school for the death. Stan didn’t just lend his name, he poured his heart and soul in the Endeavor.

Would be an interesting conspiracy if all the top teams players get Covid and move up in the draft because there is no reason to win this cup. Before it's over the entire Blue's team may be out.

Been saying for three months they should call 2019-20 over and start with '20-21.
