BTW
RE;; Rogula

I am lacking information ( and I suggest many hockeybuzz readers too) insofar as the details on his scouting report.

Specificly, scoring 27 goals stands out. Is that due to a fabulous pp shot? Is he a puck carrier? How about his defense? Obviously he will spend one year or more in the AHL.

Adding a good size dman with even some physical edge and a big scorer (?)- tell more please

- jhawk59

Although I can't speak to his defensive style, Regula is responsible in his own end and was even voted as best defensive defenseman in the OHL (either the whole league or just his conference). So he at least has a good base to work from as a defender.

On the PP he was used a lot in the bumper role so he did score quite a bit from the slot. However, he can generate chances from the point as is often expected of an offensive blueliner. Again, good base to develop from.

The escrow is a red herring. The league and the players each get 50% of the hockey related revenue. The escrow is just a mechanism to make sure the numbers come out right at the end.

So for example and there are many, the players have no say in running the business if ownership does a lousy job of marketing the players lose. It shouldn't be that way. You can say they win when marketed well but not really, they get nothing of the capital appreciation. I'm definitely not a union guy have been white collar all my life, worked in financial planning for a major automotive company and dealt with UAW issues. This is a bad deal.

We should reap the benefits of three pairs defense whom can efficiently move the puck. There is a strong impression even now from some of the young guys .....to even suggest puck movement could be a strength. Boqvist,. Mitchell and Beaudin for sure. Carlsson can carry the puck too but he is not the.Bobbby Orr clone. In lKyrs probably after he keep improving defensively - Kyrs as a third pair one day that is his forte. Now we have the guy we just signed and Rogula turning pro

I could foresee a puck possession offense one day. Just whom stays and whom goes will be very interesting as the process unfolds. We are deep with dmen too..others whom have not turned pro like Galvas, Vlasic, and a couple in the Colorado colleges. Then once Moberg.turns pro watch out.

I was actually wondering how much of a skater is Rogula.

News out there that Norm Maciver was demoted within the Hawks administration. Others were, too. He was my pick for possible GM if Stan Bowman is promoted or let go down the line.

The NHL covets mobile defenses that can really move the puck. As long as everyone on the blueline has a defensive conscience and can balance in reliable play in their own end, then that would be great.

Carlsson is the strongest so far as a balanced defensive prospect. Could be a solid top 4 option but would be fine as a solid 5/6.

Krys just needs to tighten things up in his end and get stronger. He also needs to keep it simple as the puck carrier. He gets in trouble when he tries to put on a clinic.

Regula's skating is not an issue from what I can tell. The best skater amongst the D prospects could end up being the new kid Kalynuk.

As long as they can help munch minutes and do well without the puck, that would be ideal. Cut any prospect who can't do this.

It is a guarantee that 50% of hockey related revenue goes into the players pockets. I'm sure the deal helps some players and hurts others, but as a group they chose the guarantees. They were represented by professionals and signed off on the deal. Not many unions in the world have a guarantee of a percent of the employer's revenue. As a hockey fan, I like that it encourages all to grow the game together because they both do better financially that way.

First round and round robin games supposedly to be broadcast on regional sports networks. So Hawk games will be on NBC Sports Chicago. I would assume some games will be on the national NBC Sports Network. I wonder if the NHL Center Ice package will be re-activated to include these 1st round games. If so for us that have it, get ready for about 15 hours (6 games) of continuous hockey each day.

There were a slew of moves that Scott Powers covered in The Athletic.

I am working on a blog that includes this among other updates.

Stay tuned gang!

THIS.

He scored a lot of goals from this spot and looked great doing it.

Wouldn't that be nice to see the Hawks try something like that on the PP. I've been wanting them to try out that high-tip play for years now.

Nah... why listen to me... their PP is amazing. Let's keep doing the same thing over and over again.

Awesome! Look forward to read your blog on the re-org within administration.

I see that they elevated 3 people to Assistant GM. If you're covering this in the blog, that's fine but was there only one Assistant GM (Maciver) before this re-org?

Was it ever announced who is doing this "internal audit"? One thing that caught my eye, and I think they got bang on, is that our pro scouting staff has been less than satisfactory, or at least below our overseas and amateur scouting staffs

The Blackhawks also removed 17 people from their hockey operations, scouting and coaching sections, highlighted by six pro scouts, development coach Derek Plante and Rockford IceHogs/European strength and conditioning coach Kristian Skarphagen.

Thanks, boiler.

That's a lot of movement and changes within Hawks brass. Some of it is to be expected, particularly the letting go of 17 personnel which I assume is due to the organization bleeding money as a result of the pandemic.

I might be coming to the dance late with this, but it looks like after the new deal gets ratified, guys like Mitchell will be allowed to sign now, not play until later and burn that year off their deals.

I am wondering just why the present players, and the owners would be agreeable to this...the agents?, oh sure, as their new kids gain.

The one late wrinkle that did emerge Wednesday night is a well-placed source told The Athletic that the NHL and NHLPA are working on language that would allow players like Kaprizov(Ian Mitchell) to sign their entry-level deals to start in the 2019-20 season, but not allow them to play this summer.

If that ends up being the compromise, Kaprizov technically could sign his two-year deal, burn off the first year this summer and at least it would allow the Wild to get him under contract for the 2020-21 season.

Well I already paid in full last year for the 19-20 Center Ice season. Not complaining that I missed out on the last 12-15 games of the season, but would be nice to be able to tune in to other games during the round besides the Hawks.

Discount or free for the 20-21 season would be nice in an effort to draw viewers to the game.

Tyler, a potential GM candidate you identified as one for the Blackhawks to consider (Mike Futa) was a finalist for the Devils GM position that Tom Fitzgerald now has.

The hiring of Lindy Ruff as the new Devils head coach is another reason why I'm glad the Hawks went in a different direction rather than recycle the same coaching mulch that may not yield much anymore.

That doesn't mean Jeremy Colliton is the ultimate answer but I like the general direction of trying something new.

Also, the Wild hired Judd Brackett as Director of Amateur Scouting. There's been a lot of buzz around him. I wonder if the Hawks approached him as they looked to re-org administration including the scouting department.

Not sure if anyone saw this.....

"Blackhawks prospect Maxim Shalunov has been in the system for quite a while without ever playing a game in a Chicago uniform. It appears that may be changing relatively soon. Shalunov’s agent Shumi Babaev told Scott Powers of The Athletic (subscription required) that right now, the plan is for the winger to sign in Switzerland to start next season. However, he adds that the hope is that Chicago will sign him following the completion of the 2019-20 campaign and that Shalunov would leave his Swiss team to join the Blackhawks once the 2020-21 season gets underway."

Adam Boqvist. He can get his shots through better than most from the backend. He was getting really good at that near the end of the season.

Ian Mitchell reportedly worked on this a lot last year. We'll see how he is at the NHL level.
