Koneckny is on a pretty nice deal and has become a tremendous player for Philly. Didn’t we grab him with a pick that was originally Toronto’s?

As for Hayes, it’s that 7 number that bothers people. Bothered Philly fans tremendously. But after seeing what he brought to the table on both sides of the ice, he shut us up. His PK abilities alone mixed with AV turned a god awful special teams unit into a half decent one.

He’s still improving. He was on his way to his best season for points before this debacle, but point production isn’t his whole game. I dunno any fan who has had him prior call him a poor performing guy.

It’s just that 7 number. If it was 6, people wouldn’t have blinked, but the Flyers had cap room for the first time in ages, and wanted to lock him down.

That deal isn’t handcuffing them yet. It might in 4 or 5 years, but for now he’s a positive asset. The JvR one is more of a fly in the ointment.

But I guess when you’re a young team which has a good amount of players on the cheap, you can make a mistake and it won’t kill you.

The konecny pick was made by hextall using a 1st round pick given by tampa bay for coburn. At the 2015 draft he used a 2nd from chicago received for timmonen (hexy actually got 2 second rounders for him) to give to toronto to swap the teams’ firsts...they moved up from 29 to 24...a year later that little bugger TK made the Flyers line-up and he’s now ready to soar up to superstar elite status.

Say what you will about hexy being a dck to work or play for...he was a master with the draft. He will be at the parades down Broad Street my friend...yes...paradeS!!!

Enjoy the playoffs if they’re on. I really want to play those penguin punks in the first round. Hayes and coots will be all over the cry baby and malkin.

As for the hayes and jvr and even voracek contracts...i wouldn’t worry. They all run out when they turn 34 which for hockey isn’t that old. Last year dallas gave pavelski 3 years at 7 MILLION!!! And he was 35!!!

Plus we’re going to have a GREAT and CHEAP pipeline for the next 5 years with frost farabee ratcliffe allison laczynski myers zamulov york brink...and who are we going to get for ghost...cause he will be traded this upcoming off season (they’ll protect provy myers and sanheim in next year’s seattle draft). Personally i’d like to see him flipped for toronto’s kapanen...he grew up in jersey cause his dad played many years for the flyers. Toronto is in CAP HELL...they could never afford his contract as a 3rd line forward...plus they are DESPERATE for D.
Another player that interests me is mattias samuelsson...kjell’s kid...a stay at home D that was the first pick of the second round...by buffalo...2 years ago. Buffalo is a tire fire...kim pegula is running the team...she was a waitress before she met the idiot terry pegula...so you know...waitressing skills really transfer well to running a professional hockey team with a history of being all-time losers.
