The Hayes deal was tremendous for us. I cannot even mention every bit of the synergies it has created that does not show up on the individual stat sheet.

It has given us size down the middle and a bonafide 2C. This means Flyers are no longer Roo/Coots/Voracek and then not much more.
He and Laughton are extremely good on the PK, and a real SH threat
He plays with tremendous moxie and heart and this has rubbed off on the rest.

To look at his impact,simply look at our 2nd and 3rd line scoring this year in ES. Its much better and everyone is the same except him (Grant came at TDL). He is not our most important player, but he is very likely the most important for our improved play.

Which is fine. Hayes has been good for the Flyers and pending UFA's usually cost more money and term than you'd like. But you can't say Hayes is a great signing at 7 mil AAV and then rip the Leafs for signing RFA Nylander at 6.9 million. That's what numnuts Brucey was doing.

But to be honest...you’re wasting time explaining how to build a winner on leaf fans...they’re about as dumb as it gets.

They think you can build a cup winner giving ONLY 4 PLAYERS OVER HALF OF YOUR SALARY CAP.

They think that muzzin is a good defensemen because they don’t draft/develop their own.

They think hiring a 16 year old analytics dweeb to get schooled in contract after contract negotiation makes a lot of sense.
