Yeah, they can't keep the same "studs" and pay them like it and expect a change in much of the record. How do they get the 2nd line center? Many coaches go with 2 solid players per line. They could go with Jack and Skinner; 2nd line center they trade for and OV, Cozens and Kuhun or Moho. The team is better already.

I see him with similar value to William Nylander at 6.9 mil.

Both 55-65 point players who people have questioned how much they can do on their own.

Sabres really can't afford to toss away top 6 talent right now. Murray did a piss poor job getting forwards and Botterill did little as well

I wasn't the biggest Reinhart fan (Still am not some occasions) but Jack's numbers are unanimously better across the board when Sam is on the ice with him. Obviously Jack is much better, but I think he helps Eichel more than being dragged along for the ride.

Question is how much is that worth?

I'd hate to see those numbers with a pedestrian center or number 2 center, oh heck someone not named Jack dragging him along for the ride. Nice post Boss, it shines some light on a waste of a big contract if they re-sign to a hefty and long one. They would be just spinning their wheels with Skinner and Sam sucking up cap.

but this does back up that he didn’t play as horribly as his low goals total would suggest

Makes me think there was a degree of bad luck involved, and we should expect a bounce back

interesting interview with player agent steve bartlett on the instigators...he was asked about the 10% deferral for nhl players...the question was, how would it effect the salary cap...for instance, jack makes $10M but defers 10%, is his cap-hit $9M or does it remain the same?

bartlett didn't have a definitive answer but you know teams like Tampa and T.O. would love to have a scenario where that 10% deferral comes off the cap-hit for next season

I would guess many players, as has been said before, will be signing deals in the 2 to 3 year range, as that is when the cap ($81.5 for this coming season and next, and $83.5 for the 3rd season) will finally be going up again, in theory.
