lol but it'll start at 9am so there'll be plenty of time to rearrange the schedule - plus none of those pesky fans to usher out after each game so that'll save time, too - Scoob
Still have to have the two teams get undressed and get out, then disinfect, then other teams arrive, get dressed, have pre game skate, then start. That's at least an hour. |

Don't necessarily have to play all the games in the big arena. Any local ice surfaces with decent TV angles would work. No fans after all. - Tomahawk
Does the NHL have standards for rinks for regulation and playoff games?

Not true. Any rink an NHL game is played on has to have all the technical capabilities that an NHL rink has. Many factors, including replay come into play. That's not including training and dressing rooms, medical rooms, and everything mandated in the CBA. |

Most college, junior and minor-pro facilities could be used. I'm not talking about doing it in a backyard pond or at the neighborhood rec center.
Guessing that's why places like Toronto and Chicago are being considered. There are a number of hockey arenas (and practice facilities) in those cities that could be used. |

Big difference between where they practice and where they play the games. Why do you think only NHL cites are being considered? They need an NHL equipped arena to play NHL games.

Honest question.
What constitutes NHL equipped?

Generally speaking there has to be everything that is mandated in the CBA. Proper locking rooms and medical facilities. Capability for all the replay angles and cameras needed, etc. Now I guess they could take a minor league facility and dress it up but as I said previously, there is a reason they are only looking at NHL facilities.

They will stagger the games as well. So, the Vegas venue has a game at noon. The other venue has a game at 3. Vegas doesn't have another game until 6.
The games keep rolling especially in the early rounds and they have plenty of time to clean in between games. The play in round and round one of the playoffs will have hockey all day long. That will be fun.

Well it would be better than no hockey at all but I prefer to watch the team I root for play live. What if they have a playoff game during the week that starts at noon? That will suck.

I know.
Take Chicago for example, All-State Arena and the United Center are basically NHL game ready. The Fifth Third Arena (brand new state of the art Hawks practice facility next to the UC) could also be used if they get the camera angles to work.
That's three places you can spread out games in the early going so the ice doesn't get totally chewed up in a single place with the summer humidity. |

Replay is often a giant cluster frank in a true NHL arena - I can't even imagine the chaos and outrage if replay capabilities are sub-par in a secondary arena.

With today's technology and no fans in the building, ice is not an issue.

Ordinarily I'd agree with this sentiment. I don't like afternoon games. However, given that we're still not working back at our office, hockey on the television all day long wouldn't be awful. |

I usually DVR games and start watching a few hours after start time anyway. That way I can skip the commercials and between period junk. You’d have to avoid media, social and otherwise, all day. I’m old so not too big a deal for me to avoid looking at my phone for a few hours. |

Tough. Yes. But his size didn’t hurt either. Would prefer Parros. Good ole George.
Another one that played for us that I wish stuck around longer was asham. Not the toughest but could chip in offensively as well.

I feel bad for all those who are not able to work and it obviously would be great for the mental health of those people. However many of us are working and have been working. |
