Don't get wrong, I'd be happy to get Lafreniere as I trust that he's the best player in the draft. That said you make acquiring a #1D and 1C sound very trivial. Do you really believe this team would still be mediocre if they had a center like MacKinnon and a defenseman like Hedman added in? - apex123
yes. mediocre is a bit strong, let say not a contender. again, skills and size.
I like Tatar, but if he's your best LW... you're in trouble. same with Gallagher btw. Mackinon is not alone on his line...
ideally, Tatar - Danault - Gallagher is your 2nd line, not your 1st. Habs are not only missing a #1C, they're missing a #1 line!
then, Drouin, Domi, Gallagher, Byron, Caufield in a few years... how many small players can you have?
I say 1 or 2. not 5-6. so they keep Gallagher and Caufield? you know what to do with the others.

To answer your question I'd say 3 or 4 small players is fine depending on the skills on a speed based team. Domi and Drouin aren't that small, though I think Drouin's attitude sucks and he won't be producing anything. Caufield and Byron probably won't be on the team at the same time. Anyway looking at this line up really raises the question of how Bergevin hasn't been fired. This team's identity is in total disarray. I don't know why they haven't traded Price and Weber when they had value. They really look to be stuck in the middle of nowhere for the foreseeable future.

Domi and Gallagher play much bigger than their size. Drouin is listed as 6 foot but I agree he plays small. Byron won't be here for that long.

they may play bigger than their size, they are still small. and at the end of the calendar and in the playoffs, we all know they get tired and can"t compete. we've seen that movie many many times before.
I did hear Pence say the word 'mask' Yesterday. there's hope! baby steps - fidopro
The guy in charge of the US pandemic task force who not long ago refused to stop shaking hands because of "in our line of work that's what we do".
On a side note, heard Martin Mcgwire on the radio earlier...apparently the league is pushing for Vegas to be a hub city, while players just want to play where they will feel the safest. I guess Toronto is a lock, but could Edmonton be the second city? None of the US cities make sense right now.

He also added (but I've seen that elsewhere earlier today on twitter) that they negotiating numerous things right now, and they want to all announce it at the same time.

Couple of tsn talking heads were saying this is the likely scenario today. But hey, it seems to change everyday... I remember when vegas was a lock a few weeks ago
