Ya, thats completely arguable and not accurate.
Hes wasn't great. But he wasnt the worst. - Fakepartofme
He was absolutely useless from game 4 on. Yes, arguably the worst. |

So keep in mind I know absolutely nothing about junior players, so my opinion is based upon math, not evaluation of talent of the 2020 draft:
Unless it's a generational player (and I understand Lafreniere isn't), I'd prefer the #3 and #5. - Atomic Wedgie
I also know nothing and think I would prefer the #3 and #5.
#5 probably gets you Drysdale while #3 may just get you Byfield.

Talk about beating a dead horse. - joel878
The Nylander horse has been beaten to death ever since he signed the contract. The Risto horse still has life in it yet, God willing. |

Problematic that the big 3 are going nowhere so he’s just next up in line. Then it diverts to Kapanen & so on & so on... |

Whoever gets the best player wins the trade. Would you trade dubois and juolevi for matthews? |

Nylander earned himself the wrath of Leaf fandom when he held out and then signed at the last possible minute. The narrative that somehow Dubas caved is ridiculous but there are those who continue to push it.
Personally, I thought his contract was just fine though he did (poop) the bed that season as a result of sitting out. It was, admittedly, very smelly indeed at the time.
If he manages to have another 30 goal season next year and people are still (female dogging), than I think we need to hand out some perma-bans. |

Marner is my favourite Leafs player. Doesn't change the fact that he's over paid and had a bad playoffs. - GreatGigInTheSky
I tend to agree with your assessment. Game 4 and on, Mitch just wasn't the same player at all. Not sure if he was playing through injuries but it was such a bizarro world version of Marner that I'm still not sure what the hell happened to his play.
Having said that, I do think Mitch is overpaid by maybe 1M but I think there's worse contracts on the team and that extra mil isn't worth quibbling about long term. What do you think he should be at?
Also, one wonders if Babs signed long term killed some hometown discount desire players might have had... |

I’d place Paul Marner ahead of Babs in the importo-meter when it came to Mitchie’s contract |

I would argue that CBJ have always been better than the Leafs. This includes, of course, even before the NHL was actually a thing.
I'm pretty sure there are some hieroglyphs in the Great Pyramid of Giza that documents this. |

Possibly. Though Babs at least earns an assist on the play. |

You’re a well documented weirdo. The consensus here was Leafs would win until there was a % chance of getting first pick. |

Playoffs 5v5
Marner vs Marchand 70 mins
Vs Bergeron 63 mins
Vs Chara 78 mins
Vs Pasta 40 mins
Matthews vs Marchand 23 mins
Vs Bergeron 21 mins
Vs Chara 29 mins
Vs Pasta 39 mins
I wonder who would put up better stats...even if both players were of the same calibre?
Tough to judge guys based on 1 series IMO, especially with a big discrepancy in mins vs the top line in hockey.

Marner was also playing with Tavares and hyman
Matthews had kapenen and ? I forget
I don’t even remember who nylander had after kadri was suspended...brown and marleau?
Either way marner had the tougher assignment but played with the better players. |

Not sure that I’m happy that Jays are playing here in Toronto with virus so bad in Florida. 16 games against Florida teams starting July 24 with teams either coming here or Jays playing in TB or Miami and returning. Other cities aren’t so concerning. |

Edge to Marner, still a tough uphill battle if he’s constantly against the #1 line in the NHL. Matthews had Rielly I believe for the majority too.
Our other 2 lines should have scored at will...or almost. |

Matthews lead the team in goals and points, he wasn’t a problem.
Kadri getting suspended (again) really (frank)ed us. |

Matthews was on the ice for more goals against 5v5 then for. He’s my fav Leaf but that’s not good.
Yes Kadri didn’t help, but that gave Willie time to shine...he wasn’t bad but for the amount they controlled the puck, they also needed to score some more.
Our special teams weren’t great either, I’m more defending the Tavares line then trying to call anybody out. |

I don't know what this means. If this is a reference to Civilization 3, then I approve. |
