The NHL, like every sports league to some extent is rigged. The owners don’t own teams for the glory, they own them to make money, or to add to their portfolios. MTL makes too much sense for it not to happen.

Dermott’s showing to be a bit of a bust. His progression seems to have stalled. Meanwhile Staal is looking like he can be a Matt Cullen type of player who can be very useful into his 40’s.

I sincerely hope the Leafs get #1 if they don't advance from the play-in group. I certainly don't want to see Pittsburgh, Montreal, or Edmonton get it.
