Leafs need to get Rielly a partner. He and Dumba are roughly the same age, play a similar style, and should gel nicely.

You lost me at parayko isn't any better than dumba. Just my opinion, but I believe that to be incredibly wrong. Parayko can actually play defense, really well to. Dumba? Not so much.

If we're talking worse trade... Getting creamed on a 1 for 1 deal is most of the time not going to lead to as bad of an outcome as getting completely demolished on a 3 for 2 trade will.

One good player out, one good player in... Is not going to (frank) the team as bad as 3 players out, 1 in with defensive issues and 1 in with age issues. Sorry for that much.

Also, since when does playing the same style as your d partner instantly equate to success? Typically pairings are built to compliment each others styles, not match them.

You are over-estimating Dumba and underestimating both Dermott and Holl. You are giving up too soon on Dermott.

Im all about parayko, but without even considering the values my issue would be creating one problem to fix another.

Trading rielly at all would be non sensical unless it was somehow in a deal you got both top pairing defenseman you needed back.

Aside from that, as much as I think parayko would be an excellent fit, I wouldn't trade rielly 1 for 1 for any kind of defenseman that can be pegged as one dimensional, regardless of how good he is at that one dimension. Guy has got to be the full package at that point.

Rielly has always had the offensive gifts, but outside of this season (which I believe to be the result of an underlying issue) his two way game has consistently been improving. We could already have that reliable total package, why throw dice?

Just the two cents of a certified armchair GM with no actual skills other than drinking excessive amounts of beer tho. 🤷‍♂️

If they trade for Risto with Kerfoot and Johnnson.

I’d explore trading Dermott for a young forward.

Dermott for Roslovic? Josh Anderson?

I've been a dubas supporter from day 1, but he does scare me with his 100% offense focus. Full disclosure.

Sooner or later, having defense that can play actual defense has to be a focus. (frank)in hell you got more than enough offensive talent...
