Realistically, I would venture that the chances are very small that he doesn't re-sign with St. Louis. That said, the chances are even smaller that the Leafs would be able to out-bid a team with cap space if Pietrangelo became a UFA. He is very good, his availability is unlikely IMO, Parayko might be a much more realistic target. - winsix

Instead of debating whether Risto is trash or super trash, can we discuss the fantasy of Pietrangelo being a Leaf next season?
He is what we actually need. He is a UFA. He should be dominating these boards. Not discussions about (frank)ing Ristolainen. - Leafs43
If something stupid (great) happens and the Leafs win the lottery, you'd think that would go a ways to persuading Pietrangelo to come to the Leafs.
It would be the single greatest off-season in the history of hockey. Can you imagine the amount of female doging and crying that would ensue? The crying would be biblical. Noah would roll up with his arc on a flood of tears. |

The claims that the lottery is rigged would go through the roof.
People don't seem to understand that if the lottery was rigged, Edmonton wouldn't have had 4 1st overalls in 6 years. And Auston Matthews would be playing for Arizona right now.
I want the Leafs to win their play in round. But damn that 1st overall would be awesome.

A question from out in left field. Anyone know of a ball cap manufacturer who would custom make a cap with two different sport teams? As in the Yankees and Leafs. Perhaps its a common thing. Don't know. Just asking. |

Big question is would they be able to afford him?? - Geddy
Probably not, and after his revival in Tampa, his asking price is going up. Shame, because I think he might be a good fit for the Leafs. Certainly not a defensive stalwart, but not as bad defensively as he was billed. Brings good offense and still has gas in the tank. He could maybe be what Barrie was brought in to be. But, yeah, he's probably going to want more $$$ and term than he's worth. |

RHD, 6'4" and plays with grit. Has some offensive ability, 25 years old. He would fit very well on the Leafs.
You aren't getting him for Johnsson and Kerfoot. IF he is available, some other team will offer more.
Not only that, but he has 2 more years at 5.4 and then he is due for another contract (same time as Rielly, and right after Ander7en? I am not so sure the Leafs can afford him. - Aetherial
No chance it costs more than that.
Why would his next contract cost more? He’s already overpaid |

Boy, NYT reporters getting more and more info on story about Russians paying Taliban to kill Americans. They are now saying that intelligence operatives were reporting this to their superiors in January. This all started when they found large amount of US cash in Taliban outposts and then started interrogating prisoners about it.
Times standing by their claims that Trump was briefed and more Republicans are asking WTF type questions. - Canada Cup
