mainly surprised that apparently you don't have a colleague (or VA or whatever) that can quickly edit while you're offline. Ah well, hope your family gets well soon, take care.

Well. Hawks have close to a ZERO% chance of beating the Oil. So, I guess that leaves us a 12.5% chance at getting Lafreniere. That's not so bad, I guess!

The league has once again rigged the system so the teams at the top benefit at the expense of the teams at bottom. I hope the season is cancelled so this error will be corrected.

it wouldn't be hockeybuzz without a gaff every few months

I think it's a back room scam to get better ratings in a struggling big city market

I fully expect the pens, leafs, habs, rangers or hawks to get the first pick

If the NHL didn't really want this to happen, they wouldn't have set it up this way. Lottery fraud.

will detroit make a pitch for kings 2nd overall they really like stutzle ! detroit could throw in good asset that would help with kings “rebuilding “ ... to me the biggest winner here is lafreniere ! he is not going to ottawa 😂 !!

Nah. I expect Yzerman to keep the 4th pick. He'll still get a very good player. Drysdale or Rossi most likely. I can't see Ottawa passing on Stutzle. Kings likely take Byfield.

Detroit's odds at the top three picks never changed.

You're just salty because things didn't go your teams' way.

There was a 70-something percent chance this would not happen.

The NHL's mistake was coming back in the first place.

If we accept that they need to finish the season, then the second mistake was the play-in rounds.

I am not going to have a problem with the team that wins the cup this year. They will deserve it, having perhaps an even MORE grueling cup run than normal. What is a joke is that they decided to continue a 68-70 game season... and then threw most of it away by letting teams in that should not be there.

I guess they had to throw a bone to the teams who were in a playoff spot. but not top-8 and give them a lottery chance...

which led to this ridiculous situation.

Eh, literally no matter what the league did people are going to b!tch. There is no perfect plan that would make everyone happy. If they had the lottery with just the lowest 7 picks people would complain that they are rewarding tanking.

I'm stoked for the NHL to come back. Gonna setup a projector outside and BBQ during the leaf play in round. (And maybe the actual playoffs if they can win the play in round.)

Hockey in the summer is going to be awesome.

No need for an apologies Ek, you're wrong 80% of the time anyway.

As for the lottery draft itself, I'm sure the teams out of the "play-in" series are pretty pissed right now - especially the Sens - considering not only did they get screwed out of a higher pick - more notably Lafreniere - but they don't even have an opportunity to play to go to the "real" playoffs...

I will say this much but this has been one weird season - heck, 2020 has been one weird year....

I wonder what the plan is for next season? ... A shorter season, perhaps 60 games? a shorter off-season, perhaps a month or 6 weeks?

It's going to be interesting to say the least.

Oh, and as a Hawks fan - I hope they tank for Lafreniere. Tho whichever team wins the Lafreniere sweepstakes I could see Ottawa trading up to the pick with the 3rd & 5th overall picks.. But as a Hawks fan I would take Lafreniere all day. Imagine a line like this because it would be sick:

Lafreniere - Strome/Dach - Kane. That would be ridiculous - it would be like the Harlem Globetrotters, lol.
