I didn't think the NHL could make the draft lottery system anymore stupid or convoluted, but they've managed. |

The issue was when in 2015 they put in the rule that allows every non-playoff team to win 1st. Think about how much outrage there would have been if Boston won the mcdavid draft.
Personally for me as long as it isn’t a contending team like Pittsburgh, Edmonton, Toronto or Nashville. I can understand the people that will say it’s rigged if the habs win it due to the French connection, but given the habs were 8th last it’s not like he would be going to a team that shouldn’t have been in the lottery. |

Fair point but it’s the Habs, quite a lot of hate for the franchise so there will be a poop storm if they win, especially with a Quebecer being the consensus first pick...dont care though woukd be totally worth it

It's better when these guys land in big markets anyway. Nobody gives a (frank) about NJ's 2 first overalls, Ekblad in Florida or all of the Oilers 1st overalls except McDavid. |

Agree completely about the 2015 rule; that was certainly the start of this stupidity. The fact that the luck of (frank)ing lottery balls plays any role in who gets what draft pick is indefensible. If they had issue with repeated years of tanking I would be fine if they put some kind of rule where you can't get a top 2 or top 3 pick in consecutive years; at least it would still be systematic. Whatever though, (frank) I hope the draft is rigged for the Habs to get Lafreniere. This would serve three great causes: the backlash might put an end to this system, the Habs get the best player, and we get entertainment from all of the other fan bases complaining. |
