I feel like the play in teams should have only been able to climb 5 spots or some poop. Doesn't feel right that teams basically makes the playoffs but can still get #1.

You can blame Pegula for throwing a poop fit about getting Eichel instead of McDavid after purposely tanking with one of the worst teams ever so the board voted to change the system so he couldn't do it again. We've directly benefited from this poop system but there have been a lot of really bad teams who have gotten (frank)ed out of a deserved shot at a franchise player. Just hard to imagine that they didn't have enough time or ability to bargain for a different lottery system with the circumstances of the season.

Eh. I think teams are trying to win. But.. Its a fair point.. And why its asinine 5th place teams have to play their way into the playoffs that they were virtually a lock to make it. Sooo stupid.
