Spitballin like never before...

So the players play hard ball & so do the owners. No hockey til at least October of 2021. Seattle expansion at risk. Hockey is a $5b business that neither side gets. The KHL marches on come join us comrades. The SHL say how swede it is. The NBA gets even more notoriety & lime light without direct competition. Th damage done would be massive.
Who wins? Neither.
Who loses? Both.

Time would be ripe to create a new SuperLeague by who or where idk. National could be dropped since it applies to nothing. The ol boys club gone. The shootout 6’ under where it should be etc etc etc

It’s about time..... the owners need to understand we’re done paying their debts..... you run your team into the ground it’s on you .... if there’s a pandemic it’s on the owners... figure it out it’s not a free ride ⁦

Does anyone believe that contraction in the NHL isn't likely to happen over the next few years?
- golfingsince

Bettman had made it clear that once Seattle is operating he wants 20 teams in the PO's. Can't see contraction it if Bettman is still in. The guy is such a clown he keeps FLA, NJ, ARZ, NYI and CAR operating and the league could easily lose this clubs and not skip a beat.

It's actually staggering the advances being made in the medical industry with nano-technology and University students developing 'brains' that will run on A.I.

It's coming more rapidly than people think. lol

I still tune in when the Canucks play any of these teams. I'm sure there's more like me. That's a lot of TV revenue to walk away from.

I would think the amount given to those teams in revenue sharing would make up the difference in any tv revenue that might be lost.
As far as the games go, they would play the other teams a bit more, to continue with the 82 game schedule.

I hear you and I get it...cash is king for Gary's owners but the league could easily lose 6 clubs and the talent pool would be outstanding. Instead of most clubs having two decent lines and a couple good D and one good goalie, we could get back to most teams having three great lines a great top 4 D and 2 real good goalies. The product would be 100 times better IMO.

Agreed.

We complain about dead weight players, start getting rid of dead weight teams.

Good point here but at one time the 7 CDN teams were providing over 40% of league revenue. How would you feel if you were the Habs, Leafs and even the Nucks where billion dollar franchises are asked to carry teams like ARZ and FLA along? You'd think they'd be pissed after Gary allows those teams to operate by consistently bleeding cash for decades...

Coyotes have been getting roughly 13 million per year in revenue sharing, as Cuban or Bloated posted about a month ago.
Assuming those other teams get roughly the same, that makes 65 million.

Great thought, but it'll never happen. They'll relocate before they cut. History backs me on this point.
