I hope the federal & provincial gov'ts bend the rules for privileged, professional athletes and their rich owners. After all, I've been at home for 3 months and lost my business.

That truly sucks bro sorry to hear that.
Haven’t worked in 3mths & probably be in shock once I do being around a lot of ppl. Strange times now & ahead.

I had my 2nd car a BMW sold to a buddy in Kamloops that went sideways with this virus happening. His wife had to shut down her catering biz that was doing very well. With work at a trickle for me at the busy time of year we are in for a rough year.

Thanks.

Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry had signed off on Vancouver as a host, provided that “a very strict modified team quarantine” was followed.

I'm pretty sure the same restrictions would be in place for Toronto, so don't really know why this is a problem.

See you in Chicago, I guess?

There you go, I guess BC must have overreacted?

Can report that Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health
@CMOH_Alberta
has signed off fully on a Hub city health and safety plan presented to them by OEG. This plan I am told fully checks all of the boxes required by the NHL. 1/2...

2/2.. This includes protocols in the event of any positive tests during the event, as well as all details on the bubble concept and how to ensure its security. So whatever details are causing a snag in BC don’t appear to be holding up the Alberta bid in any way.

According to sources, health officials in B.C. had been concerned about what would happen if someone within a team quarantine ended up testing positive for COVID-19.

therein lies the issue. if i were to guess, i think bc's officials want more than just the player who tested positive to go into quarantine in the event of a positive test after resumption.

the league can't have that as it kills the season after 1 positive test.

i'm glad vancouver is out.

That sounds reasonable.

I'm hoping somebody comes up with a concept that includes the phrase "COVID-19 penalty box."

Well an NDP govt doesn’t bend the knee to capitalism. Not that they do a great job on all things but at least ppl matter more than the dollar.

Nothing wrong leading by example & if other provinces are too dumb so be it.

If the NHL doesn’t heed these concerns who’s to say the NHLPA won’t follow suit & not ratify phase 3 & 4.

Even if/when play resumes, does anyone think they'll be putting their heart and soul into it or simply going through the motions? This is about money, not quality. All it will be is watered down unfinished business.

so you're saying it will be the equivalent of a canucks/blue jackets game in clb in the middle of february in terms of who gives a fcuck?

the league is already watered down and your statement could reflect a large segment of the season.

There's been some good articles in the Athletic - the money - especially for the lower-paid players - won't be all that significant.

I'm sure the players will be ecstatic

If any provincial government puts NHL demands before safety, they deserve the consequences. See how it's working for your MAGA pal.

I think regardless NHL players compete hard in PO's and still want that Cup. Hardest trophy to win...we could see some of the best Hockey ever with a slew of full healthy teams.

I think the hockey could actually be really awesome. A lot of players not in game shape could mean more mistakes which should equal more chances. I bet there’ll be a lot of high scoring games, if there’s games at all.

i think it will be the opposite of regular playoffs: it will get better the deeper it goes.

during most seasons, i've always felt that the best hockey is played in round 1. every team is relatively fresh and playing at peak performance. this diminishes as teams get worn down from playoff hockey (compounded from the regular 82 games.)

this year, i think players will be getting stronger as they play more games.

the 2nd round, 3rd and cup finals could be really good.

Teams that played as a team all year will come out of the gate just fine is my bet.

Veteran teams will be fresh & the hardest to beat. No substitute for experience.

The teams that need teaching & coaching the most will suffer defeat.

Summary: teams like the Canucks & Green probably play it conservative. Expect the vets to be the decider if winning or losing. Hughes will have a great PO’s. EP will be fine. Brock needs to take the next step & do what he does best. Opportunities dry up so cashing in is key. Bo will be a beast. JV well he’s a tough one. Will he shine or disappear? That remains to be seen. He faces a short leash if he’s not bringing it. The D is the achilles heal & where the vets are needed most.

As I said before I don't care where they play. The concerning thing is where you have one of the best doctors in the world telling you here are your flaws in your proposal and instead of fixing it the NHL just says screw it we will go somewhere else.

Again the players have the right to refuse so they are equally to blame. I understand the fatality rate has been lower than what was expected. but you still have to take precautions .

I do believe in Climate Change

I think it is something people need to be aware of . Mankind always finds a way to screw things up one way or another . That is a safe bet.

But I also don't want to get political .

All good bro. Contrary to popular belief in here I actually believe in Climate Change as well...just not in the 'brainwashed' sort of way of the media and the UN profiteers.

Stephen Hawking once said that the only thing that will save 'mankind' is the merging of the organic and mechanic and that means A.I. Some crazy stuff being developed out there.

You think Climate Change is an issue? lol..just wait...
