Add the draft position of both picks of Ottawa.
If they add up to:
11 - complete worst case scenario. I won't be happy
09 - not the worst but still disappointing
08 - this means a top 3 pick and is my minimum satisfaction
07 - I'll be happy but not a 'dream come true' (3rd & 4th pick)
06 - I'll be even happier with this (1st & 5th > 2nd & 4th)
05 - Would be amazing. To be honest 6 or less is what I'm hoping for
04 - I would be thrilled beyond believe (1st & 3rd picks)
03 - absolute dream come true, jackpot. I'm not expecting this |

you thought that Hossa was the best player/forward on the team at the same time as Toews was almost unanimously thought of as the 2nd best player in the world behind Crosby, and those who didn't have him at 2 had him in their top 5. come on man, Hossa was 3rd among forwards, behind both Kane and Toews, and Keith was probably a higher ranked player overall as well (with the 2 Norris trophies he won in that time frame).
I love Hossa, was my favorite player when he was in Ottawa, he isn't CLEARLY better than alfredsson. if he is better, which is absolutely debatable, it isn't by much. - sensarmy_11
I know who was on the team, thanks. |

had to make sure, because based on what you wrote, I was pretty sure you had no clue who was on the team |

I used to work with his brother, he was an Infantry Master Warrant Officer......the most terrifying man I have EVER met - sensarmy_11
I was a helo crew chief years ago so that was my introduction to Warrant Officers. After a few years I learned the Infantry had them too (which I found odd) and started paying attention.
Holy crap, they were all arseholes. Not in the military sense (which I can grudgingly respect) but just plain arseholes. |

Travis Yost with the draft lottery math:
https://www.tsn.ca/yost-t...tal-lottery-day-1.1489364 - SensFan25
The thing we need to remember is the Sens have had horrible luck when they have a top 5 pick. Now throw in 2 top 5 picks..and I could just visualize us getting burned somehow.
I’m more nervous then excited thinking about the outcome.

that doesn't really track.
yes, Daigle was a flop, but their other top 5 picks were:
Yashin - great player in Ottawa
Bonk - not great, but still a solid top six forward for many years in Ottawa
Berard - turned into Redden, who was a great player when he was in Ottawa, not so much after he left
phillips - jersey just went into the rafters, so probably not a bad pick
Spezza - easily the best center this team has ever had
Tkachuk - jury is obviously still out, but he's been great so far
so they've picked in the top 5, 7 times, with only a single flop...……...not sure how you consider that bad luck |

I don’t mean who they select.
I’m talking about their recent history of having a top 5 pick, and the lottery balls not going their way.
2011 when we drafted Zib, we went down a spot from 5 to 6 overall.
2018 we were the 2nd worst in the league and we moved down 2 spots to 4th to get Brady.
2019, worst team in the league. Colorado drafts at 4 (not complaining here, but you get the idea).
I’m confident the Sens will select two very good players. As you pointed out, they’ve done well selecting in the top 10 (outside of lee and Cowen)
My concern is WHERE they select.
I hope, just like everyone here we win big....but I’m also not gonna be surprised if we end up selecting at 5-6 based on our track record of the lottery screwing us over. |

ah, got it...….my mistake.
yes, I agree. it makes me nervous that there is like a 60% chance that our picks get worse, and only like a 40% chance they stay the same or improve |

Does San Jose's pick come with Ottawa's luck, or San Jose's?

One more BTW, the NHL obviously has a plan what would happen to the draft lottery/order of selection in the event the 2019-20 RTP doesn’t materialize but has not yet shared it with the member clubs. So for those asking what would happen, my answer right now is, “I don’t know.”
So, if we really want to get into, bad draft luck scenarios...

if I had to guess, the best answer is no lotter, points % determines the order |

If we drop down, we’ll know the answer pretty quick lol. |
