We have good luck drafting at #8 in recent history.

Risto
Nylander
Mitts

All superstar players for our franchise....

Bright future here in Buffalo. Our player drafted at #8 who will start making in impact in three years (maybe) will surely lead to a change in our record

I get it, you dont like the fact, the 7 teams didnt have better odds.

If I am in Montreal this year, watching my team play, seeing how bad they actually are, I wouldnt like the fact my team doesnt have a shot at the lottery since they modified the season and the playoff format.

This was by far the fairest thing they could have done. Listening to the morons on WGR as the results were happening really showed how people do not understand how they were doing the lottery.

- Mentalorgasm5

But just consider that if teams like Toronto, Edmonton, Nashville & Carolina lose their qualifying round series they will now have better odds than buffalo for the #1 pick. Let that marinate for a bit.

Elliotte Friedman, on Sportsnet, says he spoke with Sabres’ new director of scouting Jeremiah Crowe today:

“I think you’re going to see the Sabres, based on my conversation with him, do some different things.” (1/2)

Elliotte cont’d (2/2) “I think they’re gonna do video scouting, analytics, and on the ground scouting, and they want to do a mix of all three. It’s pretty clear that the Sabres are going to try some new and different things, though he did say some external hires are coming.”

Ya think they would have used a hybrid scouting format by now.

Speaking of the bold, I have a good buddy from Pittsburgh whose response to the lottery results was, "Yeah I'm hoping the Pens lose to the Canadiens, coronavirus cancels the tournament in the real first round, we get the top pick, win/win."

I am wondering what happens if the qualifying round doesn't even happen. Do they just revert to points percentage to determine the teams teams eligible for the second lottery? I hope they thought that far ahead.

- JetpackJesus

I'm pretty sure they did. Tappen mentioned a jump from "12 to 1" which makes no sense unless they already have them mapped out based on current percentage, so, whoever 12th is would win it. That's one way of doing it.

Oh well. If it happens it happens. People are now complaining about things that havent even happened. Wasted energy.

Edit: At this rate, it doesnt look like the season is going to finish.

- Mentalorgasm5

My complaint is that the odds are out of whack. You have a higher chance of moving down than staying the same. That's incredibly stupid.

If FL winds up with the pick, I almost think they'd take Byfield, at least I wouldn't be surprised. They need a Center. I think Tallon would have trouble passing up a 6'4", 215lb pivot.

The pegula's have made many mistakes.

But, not by lack of effort ($)

They need to get lucky with a mcbeane type combination

Is tasting the mustard a sex thing? Or does she really like mustard? I like the Weber’s brand.

The qualifying round isnt the playoffs, and those teams that lose in that round should be in the lottery.

I really have no idea why people are so butt hurt the worst seven teams lottery odds didnt shoot up.

- Mentalorgasm5

If somebody already explained this, apologies, but your post is not accurate.

Normally, a team like the Penguins, who have the 7th best record overall in the league, would never be involved in the draft lottery, and rightly so.

Why do they deserve an equal chance at the 1st overall pick now over a truly bad team like the Blackhawks, Wild, or Coyotes, just because they lose the play-in round?

That's where the NHL's logic falls apart.

Please dont call Tampa. That is one team that has come out on top of many trades recently.

Not sure what this boards fascination with Cirelli. He was playing on the top line this year, and only netted 44 points.

- Mentalorgasm5

At the end of the regular season, Cirelli was centering Tyler Johnson and Barclay Goodrow, and the 2 most common wings he was centering were Tyler Johnson and Ondrej Palat. That's Tampa's top line? Where are you getting that information?

The Blackhawks had 72 points. The sabres had 68 points.

Tank out? They had 4 more points than the sabres, if they lose in the qualifying round, and win the 2nd phase why exactly do you have a problem with that?

- Mentalorgasm5

And the Penguins had 86 points. The Oilers had 83 points.

They deserve an equal chance at the 1st overall pick when they never would have been in the running normally?

yeah, but pick no. 8 is really disappointing
- Michael Pachla

How when that was their most likely pick?

Also, there's going to be a higher quality forward available at 8 than most draft years.

most of the time he was on the second line between killorn and stamkos (14.19%) or centering the third line with palat and johnson on his wings (11.34%)

https://frozenpool.dobber...&period=ALL&situation=ALL

i think that's how it went...need a lightning fan to chime in

- Michael Pachla

You need to filter to even strength to see the most common line combinations, and when you do, it shows Tyler Johnson and Ondrej Palat. Cirelli was not centering the top line.

Special circumstances call for a special lottery, no different than the Crosby Draft. The previous cup winner literally had a shot at Crosby.
- Mentalorgasm5

Sure, but add in a common sense additional consideration, such as if you were in the top 6 of your conference and you lose in the play-in round, you're not eligible for the lottery for a top 3 pick.

That simple language would eliminate teams like the Penguins, Hurricanes, Oilers, and Predators from consideration for a top 3 pick.

If you want to expand that language to say top 8 in each conference, I'd be fine with that too.

The top teams playing in the play-in round should not be able to have their cake and eat it too, which this draft format makes possible.

I've had an Amazon Firestick for a few years now - it's decent. Someone gave me a new Roku - I think I can put it on the same TV (there's 1 more HDMI port I can use), but do I want to do that ? The Firestick has everything I need, including Kodi and things like that. Do I even need the Roku ? Does is offer anything different than the Firestick ?

Of course I have Prime that I'm paying for to use along with the Firestick. I'm assuming the Roku is free to use their normal streaming services, but need to upgrade in order to use Hulu or HBO Now and things like that ?
