we like how you are progressing

here is a 2 way contract, we want you in our top 4 next season with the big club, but we can only offer you a 2 way deal right now

we need to finish construction on our yacht and money is tight

- homiedclown

We liked "past tense" your swedishness

We didnt care about your lack of size and/or toughness needed in the nhl

We didnt see anything worthy of extending your contract

Yacht or super yacht, the decision is play based.
He couldn't cut it, now our coach is the one making the calls on players.

No sandpaper, no grit, no contract

Sh!t changes.

Like losing a ton of $ for 9 straight years without any return on his investment.

I truly believe Terri meant what he said, he backed it up with his pocketbook.

Imagine holding you to something you said a decade ago?

If any of the rumors of their rather significant involvement with player decisions is true, they have no one to blame but themselves...they are the problem

Someone made a fantastic point on twitter and I forgot who,

But the Sabres are going to let Larsson walk, trade Risto, get worse defensively and it will be blamed on trading Risto. Not actually losing the elite defensive player

Here is what happened.

The Peguals thought they were buying a cash cow
They thought the fans would support the team and fill teh building no matter what.
They thought wrong.
The Bought the bills, realized that is where the money is shifted focus to them.
Told Botteril he needed to clean house to become "leaner and more efficient"
or
Cut salary
Botts said no
Botts was fired, they hired/promoted yes men, who have been with this organization for years.
For all this talk of how bad the hockey/scouting department was/is. Why would you promote from within that department?

For the sole reason that a player was promised a full time role in the NHL. You don't say that to a guy and follow it up with "well here's a two way contract just in case." It's shoddy business.
- TheSabresTaco

I think you are proving the point of why it was done and more proof is him signing with the KHL rather abruptly and shocking the "brainless-trust" of the front office.

There was a story about their rather shoddy business dealings, but I can't remember which of the articles revealed that.

Not really, but we won’t agree so I won’t bother posting the numbers that disprove this.

Actually, (frank) it I’m bored

When Gaustad scored 36 points, wanna know who his linemates were? Afinogenov, Kotalik, and Paille. Three guys who have scored 20 goals previously. Wanna know how many PP minutes Gaustad got that season? Over 250

Their 5 on 5 points per 60?

Gaustad 1.5 (with better linemates)
Larsson 1.25

Really not much of a difference at all offensively

- sbroads24

Can't have it both ways. Either the LOG line is great, or Larry needs better linemates. Select your lane.

Larry is a black hole offensively. This board has chubs for him, fine. I won't be upset when he hits the street.

Now I'm gonna go

So overrated.

you need players to move the Puck
Risto has grit, size, sandpapper.
He is easy to play against because he cant move the puck.

Tell us that being more efficient is bad.
- TheSabresTaco

head coach with less then 2 years experience in nhl

rookie gm who ruined the harborcenter rinks in previous job

if the scouting was so bad why retain a few and promote a few? do an overhaul

rochester was doing great, taylor was perfect guy to assist our head coach when we were down 1, sh!t can them all

fire a guy by mistake

don't bring in an experienced gm, don't blow it up, just advance others in a pathetic organization that has the most consecutive seasons w/o playoff hockey

if you are going to admit botts was a mistake, BLOW IT UP

but as I have said for years, KYM is running the show, so it doesn't matter who you put in place

the team is a joke and wait for more stories on the buffalo bills to come out

They're great defensively and at controlling play. No one said they are offensive dynamo's.

Again, his offensive production is not bad for a guy starting most shifts in the D zone with no PP time. It's 3rd/4th line level but saying it's "black hole" is being disingenuous.

In Gaustad's 36 point year he had 5, yes 5 EV goals and a bunch of secondary assists playing with guys who were in the top 6 for a lot of times.

Goose was never good on offense

At the end of the day, if they took the player seriously, a two way would have never been on the table. And that's a fact.

I mean Larry is good at his role and all the statistics back that up. And that role is defensive play. For what he gets paid, it's probably a bargain. I too wish he was stronger offensively. Then his salary doubles.

Erik Haula
Nino Neiderrieter
Boobne Jenner
Derek Stepan
Drew Doughty
Iilya Kovalchuk

His role was being a 3C/Borderline 2C. He is objectively bad at that role. He cannot produce commensurately with that TOI. If we're talking about Larry playing 10 minutes a game, idgaf, but anyone thinking that Ralph is only going to play him 10 minutes a night is living on Gerbe Island. It's like Risto, they can't resist playing him too much.

So some other team can pay him 3 million a year to be eLiTe defensively and score 6 goals with 10 assists as far as I'm concerned.

He had 4 points in 4 periods with Skinner. I'd say just make him a 3C and put Kahun and Johansson with him and watch him shut teams down and get 25-30 points and its a bargain at 2.5 mil

I mean, he outproduces the guy you wanted to trade for 5 on 5. Just take the massive L on Larry and move on.
