if points were all that mattered yes

and on that note, Kerfoot had 18 primary points that year, Ristolainen had 11 last year.

And only one of these players is remotely solid defensively.

If you think a 2C who is outscored by Risto is a good idea, then you’re nuts

Larsson plays good defense
We need a 2C that plays well OFFENSIVELY
Low 40s point totals isn’t that at all

60+ points out of our 2C is needed
Of course points aren’t everything...
BUT
a 2nd line that can score is a desperate need of our
And he just doesn’t help that

I personally think Skinner would do well with Keefoot because he did well with a defensively relatable player in Larsson, whereas Kerfoot brings more offensive upside.

Position played:

Risto- defense
Kerfoot- 2C (supposedly)

You really think Kerfoot is the answer at 2C for us?
In Toronto,
he hasn’t even been the answer at 3C

U guys are nuts

Funny rumor, better check the draft board, we don't have the 3rd's to use.
- Buff36

Yawn. Wake me up when the Sabres get 30 G scorer Kubalik aNd Strome from Chicago for Risto. Were you drinking drano again when you claimed your insider told you it was happening?

No Cozens is the answer, Kerfoot is a stop gap option.

He played in a third line role with limited PP time and scored 40+ points.

He has the capacity to produce more in a larger role.

Ristolainen plays in all situations and is given every opportunity and tops out as a 45 point D man.

Does anyone really believe Kyle "Mr Advanced Analytics" Dubas would actually be interested in Risto?
Fake News.

Could play 2C for a year or 2, then slide back to 3C. Wouldn't be horrible .
Generally I am against players playing above their capability, but in a stop gap situation I'd live with it

I get that you hate Risto
But that doesn’t mean we should settle for another guy who should be playing 3C,
and put him at 2C

Plus he was so mediocre in TOR last year that we shouldn’t have to give up Risto or Montour to get him

If that’s what we end up needing to do,
then we shouldn’t be giving up Montour or Risto to get that type of guy

Tage & a 2nd or 3rd would be much more appropriate

Risto proved again under another coach that the defensive side in terms of giving up chances and shots isn’t getting better. He is what he is. A 3/4 on a good day.

Kerfoot is a middle 6 center who’s probably one of the better 3C’s around.

It’s a fair trade. It’s a center. It would be a no brainer

2 things
1 - the trade included Johnsson as well, so need to include that in the equation. I would push back and require Kappy instead
2 -Dubas isn't going after Risto anyway, it's EK BS

The days of us getting a stud for Risto is over. The league knows what he is

Your hate for Risto is blinding you

Sub Montour in this trade,
do u still like it?

And u really like Kerfoot at 2C for us?
No way
If that’s the best we can do,
then just let Cozens & Mitts battle it out for that spot in the lineup

I may very well be nuts, but that's not a cogent argument for either of my points being less valid.

Kerfoot is a more impactful player than Ristolainen

The Sabres would win this hypothetical deal. Which included Andreas Johnsson, a useful top 9 player.

I’m focusing on the Kerfoot part bc that would affect what we’d do elsewhere in the lineup

Skinner/Olofsson-Kerfoot-Johnsson as line 2
That’s the solution?
I sure hope not

Taking guys from the Leafs 3rd line & putting them on our 2nd is a HUGE MISTAKE

So it’s a good idea to take 3rd liners from the Leafs & put them on our 2nd line?
Ummmmm... no, it’s not

This is a case where you’re looking too hard at analytics and not using common sense

Absolutely, and I like Montour slightly more than Risto.

Jokiharju is the type of D man that will be RD1 for years and he’s 21. I would absolutely trade one of Risto/Montour, keep the other at RD3 and move Miller up as he started to play really well to end the year.

Why is it not? Their top 2 centres were Matthews and Tavares.

The deal makes the Sabres significantly better.

Enough with the 3rd liners playing above where they actually should be slotted.
