Technically speaking, Nedomansky.

It's funny, I had it in my mind that Mogilny's career was cut short, but the dude played 16 years in the league.

As we all know, the HHOF values longevity above everything else.

IMHO, Mike Gartner is not a HHOFer.

Fight me.

if you are top 10 alltime in the history of the game at doing the thing that is the entire point of the game...id say that player should be in the place where you recognize great achievements

Ok, this is a hockey board. Let's settle all of this political stuff with advanced stats. Obama or Trump might have nice boxcar stats, but let's see what the underlying metrics say.

Overall, Obama has a decided edge is expected goals and goals above replacement. He also has a great two-way game, and his average Corsi reflects that.

Trump, on the other hand, is a mostly a penalty killer with a solid advantage in blocked shots and hits. Trump also racks up penalty minutes at almost twice the rate as Obama.

Obama has a clear edge in speed and overall skating. Trump is a pylon who makes Phaneuf look like McDavid. Trump uses his size well and is quite a brawler if the gloves get dropped.

Clearly, they have two different playing styles and it's like comparing apples to oranges.

Trump is closer to Gritty the mascot on a three week crystal meth, Jim Beam bender but I do tame your apples/oranges analogy.

Theres was some argument on the tweeter that alfie was better than sundin.
Well it was a couple of sens fans and a couple leaf haters against 100's of reasonable hockey fans.

- Fakepartofme

He'd get in if he would done what Sundin did.

Is the MasterCard centre a full size NHL rink?

Could they theoretically have 2 games going at the same time between sba and MasterCard?

- bryant

Four NHL-sized rinks.

The more I play it over in my head, the more I think they need to arenas per hub cities to play games in.

Even with separate dressing rooms, you are going to need about a 5-hour window for each game.

Pre-game skate is usually about an hour before puck drop.

3 hours for game (pray it doesn't go to overtime).

Wipe-down of benches, penalty boxes.

Then pre-game skate for the next game.

The 1st pre-game skate isn't a problem, but start trying to chart out a TV schedule for this, and keep in mind it has to be optimal, because that's the only reason we are doing this - for TV ratings.

So 1st game goes at 6 pm.

Next game can't start until around 11 pm. Who the frank is going to watch that?

He was very good for a very long period of time.

He was never, ever, ever an elite player.

Not a single NHL award, ever.

Never named to a 1st or 2nd NHL all-star team, meaning over a career of about 20 years, he was never considered the best or even second best at his position.

He only hit 50 goals once.

His claim to (the Hockey Hall of) fame is that he scored 30 goals more times than anyone else.

Yawn.

I always compare him to Lindros, who had a much harder time being elected.

Lindros' career was cut short by injuries.

But there was a wonderful window of time where if the Flyers were in town, you were going to see Lindros. There was a buzz in the air. He was the most exciting hockey player on the planet, and dammit, you just needed to buy a ticket and go see him.

Nobody ever said that about Gartner, ever.

2nd funniest thing in the history of hockey. I always loved Krusty for that.

Funniest ever was Steve Sullivan mocking the fan who got cut by a puck.

I think they may have a 2 pm game and a 7:30pm or 8pm evening game.

Can you imagine if an early game goes to triple overtime? It would push back the later game which could cause a lot of headaches.

imo Lindros was/is a sure fire HOF, no question.

But what about Dave Andreychuk? very similar to Gartner.
I just think if you can play that long, be that consistent and end up as the 7th (soon 8th) alltime goal scorer just not get into the HOF..thats crap

just my opinion but all star games and trophies I dont put a lot of stock in...i did when I was 12 tho

Point of clarifcation:

Not all-star games. Named to all-star teams (1st or 2nd) at end of year.

right, and I got that.
ill be honest I never really understood those all star teams..like they had an all star game where players are voted to play..then hey have an all star team voted on after the season?

but again I stopped paying attention to that stuff long ago

Gartner played on some bad Capitals teams so that could have hurt him, but I don't think he should be in the Hall

The worrisome part for me is that we don’t know for sure what damage it might do to your internal organs. You might recover from it but it could still shorten your life by leaving you with heart and lung issues that worsen later in life.
