You're the best after the fact GM I've ever seen!

TKs I appreciate it.

I thought it was brutal the day they signed it if you sign a guy till he is nearly 40 the contract needs to be a value at least in the 1st couple of years. IE Keith or Hossa. Seabs was never a value. Ie in the 1st year he did not outplay 6.8 mil and it was pretty easy to see that was not going to be the case. Keith and hossa outplayed there contracts the 1st 1/2 at least so in the end when they might be overpaid you understand that you got value early on. So it balances. I wont bring it up again

also when I said it was his second contract I meant that it was his 2nd big money contract where he was not bound by ELC or RFA bridge contracts. if you count those it was his 4th contract not 3rd.

Unfortunately in sports you pay for the accomplishments of the past as well as predictive future performance. Also, I beg to differ that between 2010-2015 that Seabs was not one of the best 30 defenseman in the league. He probably would be a #1 D on at least half the teams at that time. Keith wouldn't of been able to do, or be as successful at doing Keith things if he didn't have a Seabrook lining up next to him.

Keith and Hossa's contract were under the old rules. As far as those type of contracts goes, If Shea Weber retires before his is up, the cap recapture would force Nashville to its knees.

If Hossa, Larmer, or Roenick make it, will they go in with a Hawks jersey? or another that they played with during their career? Wilson only played 2 years in SJ and the rest with the Hawks so that is a no brainer.

Larmer only 2 years with the Rangers but won a cup with them.

My guess is Hossa and Larmer would enter the Hall with Blackhawks jerseys. Wilson, too.

Roenick will enter with a leprechuan outfit. That image of him dancing during the Winter Classic pre-game still haunts me.

Kidding aside, either a Blackhawks or Coyotes jersey for Roenick.

Gotta love the Lady Liberty mask that Richter wore. Classic.

Even though he started his career as a Blue, I loved the Cujo moniker and matching mask that Joseph wore in his career.

Not that mask design is a factor for Hall voting!

Just a reminder that the 1st phase of the draft lottery will take place Friday evening, 7 p.m. Central. It will be televised on NBCSN, NHL Network, Sportsnet and TVA. Here's a link explaining how it works. It's too early in the morning for me to understand it.

it is really not that difficult..they follow the original lottery plan and if all the teams in the top 7 win the order gets rearranged to fit winners and then the play in losers fit in the rest of the 15 spots in terms of their winning % from before the lockdown.

IF. one or any of the lottery balls goes into to the 8-15 slots the losing teams in the play in each get a a 12% chance to be the winner off that one two or three spot...

In his prime, Seabrook was easily a top 20 D-man in the league. Easily.

I seen that was coming up ,be rooting for the underdogs . Speaking of the draft seen on Tankathon they have dropped Askarov to 21th and have the HAWKS taking Sanderson at 9 with Quinn going next at 10th Holloway down at 17 . Can't see what would make Askarov drop that far with no hockey being played .
Checked out Bob McKenzie final picks he got Stutzle at 2 ahead of Byfield I agree with that also has the HAWKS selecting Holtz at 9 with Sanderson going 8th . Askarov is ranked 11th by Bob
.Still stick to my original pick at 9th as Askarov, but Quinn or Sanderson would be nice consolation prizes

Toews, Kane and Keith should all get in on their first attempt. Sea brook and Crawford should eventually.

any body read those why and why not these players should be in the hall of Fame at the Athletic?

Actually made a nice case for why Larms and Hossa shouldn't be in.

jut hold your horses, because if the hawks win a round they pick later...in the mid teens.

Unlike Wheeler at the athletic, I think Sanderson is a really good pick up and I have no problem with the Hawks going defense there, but...I bet they don't if they go 9th.

If Ottawa selects 2 & 3 with no lottery upsets doesn't matter if Ottawa selects Stutzle over Byfield? Not really but...if the picks go to two teams I simply can't see Byfield not going second, because ehe plays right away, no matter what you read about Stutzle getting stronger...Byfield contributes next season in the biggest ways so that is why he goes #2

Question for anyone who knows. I thought Hossa was still under contract to Arizona, yes/no?? If he is, how is he able to be elected to the HOF at this time? Doesn't the NHL have a minimum amount of time you must be out of the game?? Thanks

Don’t know about your latter two.

Seabrook was probably a top-15 or top-20 defenseman in the league for a time - is that dominant enough to get in?

I don’t know that Crawford was ever a top-5 goalie for several seasons, which is my minimum criterium for getting in.

Plus - there will probably be some “Blackhawks exhaustion” coming into play - voters saying 4 is enough.

Random fact: Jake Sanderson's dad Geoff is the cousin of Sheldon and Wade Brookbank. Everyone knows Sheldon is an assistant coach but Wade is a pro scout within the Hawks organization.

What if the supposed tournament is a no go ,hopefully . Will the HAWKS then pick 9th or higher .
HAWKS could easily beat EDM in a 5 game series, after that would be tough to advance .
Maybe Askarov will drop right into the HAWKS lap at 16 or 17
