They're both centres who play on the wing. They could figure something else. It's not that difficult to replace Monahan and lots of Flames fans have been calling for the Flames to try Lindholm at centre. - Hunkulese
He was drafted as a centre - he's not played centre in years. He's not a centre. He could learn to play centre - let's not have a guy learning on the job take the 1c |

So like I wrote before, Flames likely won’t trade Monahan. Also I think 2 first round picks is super rich for Buffalo. JG has 2 years left. SM 3 years left. If your plan is to sell the farm to squeeze into the playoffs for 2-3 years then go for it. Otherwise it’s not a great deal. However that does not necessarily mean the Sabres will not do it. |

Yotes gave up a lot for 2 months of Taylor Hall...PPG players don't become available often

What are smoking? A rebuild. LMAO. Wow |

What? The Flames don’t need the Canes garbage goaltenders thanks. Lol |

It's a fantasy trade to keep you in stitches. Who cares if it fills the needs of a team. - dmnted
Well if that’s the case then Edm offers McDavid, Dri and their next 8 first overall picks.... get the point. |

I proposed this deal in that, from a Sabres perspective, picks and prospects are yesterdays news as far as keeping Jack & Dahlin happy. We need pieces to help us at least COMPETE for a playoff spot NEXT SEASON! Johnny with Jack and Monahan anchoring a 2nd line with Skinner or Olofsson gets us a legit top 6 going....not perfect, but MUCH more competitive! - chugger38
Monahan was in the same draft class as MacKinnon and leads the entire draft class in goals, he isn’t going anywhere. |

The only way I pull the trigger on a deal with 3 guys on expiring (even RFA) contracts is if I
A) Have a contract in place with each of them before signing off on the deal and/or
B) If that 2020 first is a top 3 pick
Sending away two premiere players and potentially ending up with a bag of pucks is Chiarelli-level dealing.
Montour and Middelstadt are entirely replacement level players, so I had damn well better be getting Reinhart, one of Lafreniere/Byfield/Stutzle and a stud with that 1st next year, otherwise that deal is a failure for Treliving. - rmull905
Agreed, Monahan leads his entire draft class in goals, but let’s just trade him for nothing. Lol

Monahan was in the same draft class as MacKinnon and leads the entire draft class in goals, yet it’s easy to replace him? Smoke another bud, you clearly have no clue. |

Heck I thought my offer for newhook and Colorado’s 2020 1st is more realistic than some of these, yet it didn’t make the blog - RedC21
Because there is precisely ZERO chance the Flames trade in to the WC. |

Flames need a decent back up and they might need to take back salary to make the deal work. Mrazek was a pretty decent G. |
