Okay so first off Rangers have 0 home grown talent except kreider and her was drafted 09. All of the leafs best players are actually drafted by the Leafs minus Tavares.
Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Reilly, Dermott, Sandin, Johnsonn, Hyman etc all came up through Torontos system. How well has the Rangers Draft and Development been lately?? (LOL)
Second the Rangers haven't made playoffs in two years..... Leafs keep losing to Bruins but I mean at least they make playoffs every year right. Plus Bruins went to finals last year.
If you want to compare GM's I mean c'mon, Doesn't the Trouba trade and sign say enough?
As for the cap management I wouldn't throw stones in a glass house. At least Leafs have a Farm team full of talent.
I'm not even a Leafs fan BTW.

The draft and home grown talent are definitely the mark of success for a GM and not building a team that wins playoff rounds, so you're right, Leafs have had more success than the Rangers.

Smh, a two year playoff drought. FROM A LEAFS FAN!

The same two years where management told the fan base we are trading away all of your favorite players and will be rebuilding

Speaking of winning playoff rounds, let's see how this team does against the Hurricanes.
Do I need to tell you who I'm putting my money on??

Ok, so NYR have 7 players aside from Kreider in their current line up whom they drafted (Staal, Lundqvist, Shesterkin, Fast, Buchnevich, Chytil, Kakko). And made trades to pick up 11 other players (DeAngelo, DiGuiseppe, Fox, Gauthier, Howden, Lemieux, Lindgren, McKegg, Smith, Strome, Trouba, Zibanejad) drafted in the first 3 rounds by other teams. I'd say that's a GM doing just fine. I'll give that they overpaid on Trouba. Sure, by about as much as Toronto overpaid Barrie? Oh, and we have enough prospects knocking at the door at make difficult on 80% of the roster in the next few training camps.
And those last two years where they haven't made the playoffs? Those would be the 2 years of rebuilding I mentioned.
The Maple Leafs have not won a playoff series since 2013, in 3 attempts.
Since that time, New York has won six. Don't care what Boston has done. We're talking Rangers and Leafs.
We have one season upcoming of cap struggle, yes. Then it's clear sailing with 3rd youngest roster in the league. I'm just fine with that, too.
Oh, and according to your profile, yes, you are a Leaf fan.

Last time I checked Toronto was paying Barrie 2.75 mill and Colorado was retaining the other half, seems like a pretty savvy GM move to me?? Seems to me that would be quite the underpayment?? (LOL)
Also wasn't your statement that the Rangers have been much better ran lately? Because as of late Rangers havent done squat and Leafs make playoffs every year. Also give me a break with the farm team stuff lol
Edit** and if I remember correctly the Leafs also got Kerfoot back in that Barrie kadri trade as well. My goodness what a haul.

You mean like the team did for seven straight years and 11 out of 12 until they announced the rebuild.

lol wow. So when Barrie walks next year and Kerfoot is still irrelevant as he is this year, who wins that trade? Kerfoot is a haul? lol he has 28 points.

To be honest I'd rather have barrie walk than trade Pionk for Trouba, then pay Trouba 8 mill a year (LOL).
Oh wait didnt you guys give up a 1st round pick in that deal as well??
Not like Pionk would ever turn into a 45 point a season d man anyways right! (He did)
1st rounder Heinola is looking pretty good to eh??

Felt like the longest 3-4 seconds of our lives. Didn’t quite make up for 1994 Matteau though
