Sure, logic says it protects both, unfortunately many of you are dense - BetweenTheDots
From the Mayo Clinic:
Surgical masks
Also called a medical mask, a surgical mask is a loose-fitting disposable mask that protects the wearer's nose and mouth from contact with droplets, splashes and sprays that may contain germs. A surgical mask also filters out large particles in the air. Surgical masks may protect others by reducing exposure to the saliva and respiratory secretions of the mask wearer. |

Seems to say that masks protect both wearer and others - not just your bolded part. |

Wearing a mask protects others from you, not the other way around. - tvetter
The masks put all all on an equal footing as wanting to not hurt each other. That takes care or the nonsensical idea it need to do both. OTHERS protect us by wearing the mask, unless they are ignorant.
You are correct in the fact that the science says someone can put the virus in the air for up to 20 feet.
You are correct in the fact that science says it could go into indoor circulation systems and get "spread out."
Also the time spent in a area were the airborne virus might linger can radically change your odds of contraction.
A short conversation from a distance doesn't absolve you, but a long interaction spent with someone REALLY heightened the odds you gets their cooties.
And singing increases your chances of getting the virius because you are opening the air passages, expelling and leaving plenty of room for new cootie air.
Does singing with a mask on increase your chances of spreading it? Sure, but not as much as singing opens up up for it to jump on in. |

I've been against finishing "this" season all along. Nothing but exhibition games. I go back to deHaan would be a fool to play any games counting towards this season.

Just want to throw this out there...I'm pro-mask. I think everyone should wear one in public. |

* NEW* blog up: https://bit.ly/3duF520
Hey everyone, I've escaped for a vacation this week and the wifi is not very good at the cottage.
I have the luxury of having such a talented and knowledgable back-up who has ageed to guest write a couple blogs this week for me... you know him well, Theo (aka AEL_Fox).
He's put together some really strong articles and I'm excited for you all to read them.
Thank Theo and enjoy everyone!! |
