Shouldn’t have to. Take your stud forward prospect and get the phone lines working.

Funny how most of this scouting staff was put in place in 2017, but 3/4 of the picks since then haven't even hit the system yet.

Dalton smith fell twice, got bloodied up, and didnt even fight. Perhaps the worst NHL career ever?
- robz228

Hey, he was a plus player, had a CF% of 100, an xGA of 0, and an on-ice SH% of 100!

Sounds like it could get interesting in the NHL once June 30th passes.

Even before he took over there, he’d indicated that he thought term was more dangerous than salary. He wasn’t crazy about the Jack Eichel extension (which will turn out fine) or the Jeff Skinner one, but was overruled by ownership. In fact, I’ve heard from several sources that he pursued other free-agent forwards, offering high annual salaries but shorter terms. He lost those races, but felt they wouldn’t regret onerous ends to those contracts.

That's what drives me crazy. He was more concerned with what could happen in 5 or 6 years than what happens this year and next. He's an AGM tasked with looking toward the future who couldn't get out of his own way, or, a bozo. Who gives a (frank) if you're in great cap shape in 6 years if you can't even make the playoffs? Everyone here would give anything(metaphorically speaking, obviously) to win one Cup and then be in cap hell. The whole objective of the exercise is not to have the most healthy cap, but to win the Stanley Cup, for (frank)'s sake.

How did just “making the playoffs” work for the Habs, Wild, and Flyers the past several years ?

You win the Stanley Cup by having several good players on value contracts.

How many UFA signings have worked out for Buffalo lately ? Guess you missed my post on the last page.

He didn’t sacrifice the next 5-6 years just to be a doormat in the playoffs the last two years.

You go through a rebuild and blow it up to be a cup contender (and eventually win a cup). Not to just play an extra few weeks of hockey every year.

Crawford, Markstrom, Halak or GREISS. Probably all an upgrade.
- IndianaSabresFan

Yes and they are all lined up to play in Buffalo for 3 mil a year. I’d wait a bit till these so called upgrades sign before shipping out Hutton and Ullmark. Lean isn’t getting less for more.

IT really depends on what Ullmark's next contract is. And what if the AHL season is canceled this year, what do you do with UPL and Johansson. Do you let UPL learn on the fly with the big club.

"According to multiple sources, verbally agreed-to extensions for at least player development coach Krys Barch and AHL Rochester coach Chris Taylor (two years) were approved by Botterill, delayed by the Pegulas and will not be honored." - Elliotte

SO it has to be one of two things.

The Pegulas are trying to get all of buffalo to hate them so they can just up and leave with everything and blame the city and people of Buffalo for it.

or

They are just that out of touch.

Or
They just didn't want to pay there contracts with nobody knowing what is gonna happen with the AHL.
It sucks and just looks bad, but it's also Business.
Sounds like they are the First to do it, but come June 30th could see more teams doing it.

My lack of optimism has remained stagnant so what happened this week didn't push the needle one way or the other. They were throwing bad money after bad money on bad players so if they cut the budget they'll just cut how much bad money they spend. And, if there is a chance that this plan works then it is better than the crap we had.

Cause they groomed him for this. It sucks with what’s going on, but time to move on and hope for the best.

Taylor has a verbal agreement to an extension. Pegulas said no, then fired him few days later.

They are going to make it very hard for them to hire coaches.

Also they apparently fired their head of IT by accident and had to rehire him already.
