The Sabres are a dumpster fire with or without Botterill.

Like I told you the owners are a huge issue and it took approximately 2 hours post Botterill for that to be true.

I have not cared for 2 months who the GM is

- sbroads24

Botterill could have prevented or limited all of this by using the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 2 5ths he spent over the past year on acquiring actually good players.

But he didn't, so here we are.

1 point changes his fate. God he blew it

The problem with the Sabres is ownership. I have been saying this forever and getting attacked for it. Is it obvious to everyone by now?

I am not back reading because the longer I think about this pathetic franchise the worse my mood becomes. But I heard on the radio that the real reason JB was fired was because he was against the mass firings. This makes sense because they would have fired him earlier if it had anything to do with his job performance.

These owners are chumps and morons. They have no idea what they’re doing and it shows. Don’t use the Bills as an excuse to back them, they got lucky with McDerm and Beane.

We deserve better!!!

The irony is that we thought ten years ago that the Pegulas would be our saviors and they have only given us a historically bad playoff drought and the darkest times in the entire franchise.

F the pegulas...twice.

Not if Cozens is great and Dahlin is Norris level good

Oh I hope so.

I’m gonna have a field day on these threads if he turns into that 200 foot player Dubois/Toews type I think he compares to be.

None of it matters. We’re in for worse times. And this is NOT a defense of Botterill.

The owners of the Sabres, who haven’t made the playoffs in 9 years, are more concerned about cutting costs than winning. This is a very depressing day for anyone who was super happy about the team being saved by them 9 years ago.

oh. sorry. how when they drafted so high? they have olofsson. and they have umm...
- wingz4life

Goalofsson was fruit from prior GM that knew wth he was doing, but got poop canned because he wanted the team to fight through their struggles instead of trying to hit the easy button and fire Bylsma. Loser fans in here wanted him gone. Look what it got. Don't fire Bylsma and keep GMTM. Woulda had Trotz as coach, still have ROR and Kane would've turned into some young dynamo like Brayden Point. Sabres with at least one cup by now. I'm only the 3ER so what do i know.

I don't see it the same way. As long as Adams addresses what should have been addressed 2 years ago, we're all good.

I think he will. I have more hope today than I have had in months.

I feel bad for all the people who lost their jobs due to Botterill's incompetence. Had he secured one more win and a play-in berth through better roster construction, the Rochester staff and the scouts would probably have jobs.

His incompetence cost many jobs today

Again, they sucked into Eichel, and with him over the last three years have been worse than 28 teams.

Take Eichel away, and there is nothing good about this team. So take all the scouts and hockey people and throw them in a dumpster. Is it scary? Yep, it's classless, cheap, and stupid. But how can it make us worse? I could take Bob McKenzie's rankings and draft the next player available and be better than the sabres. How much worse can Kevin Adams get at making trades than botteril?

Change was made for bad reasons, but change when you are the worst you can be is always good.

Agree completely.

Also, let's be practical here. It could be five months before any of these people are needed. If you're firing the gm, why not fire all these people and save millions in salary? Hire some new people for your new GM in November.

Had they made the playoffs, the scale and scope of the reductions (starting with Botterill) would have been greatly reduced. I definitely believe that. Something of this scale doesn't happen if they're good or even mediocre. The Pegulas saw that interest and tickets were in the crapper due to a continually poopty product and responded

when you gut your scouting department

a successful rochester staff

and hire a rookie gm, who is going to learn from an nhl coach with less then two seasons in the nhl

and don't interview anyone else for the gm spot

you are clearly the worst run nhl franchise and players and agents are putting the sabres in that black book that you avoid at all costs

good luck turning this sh!t show into anything respectable

They fired Botterill because he disagreed with making the organizational cuts. Not for performance

The standings didn’t change since Kim Pegula said he was returning 3 weeks ago.

The cuts were happening regardless.

The organizational cuts don't happen if the team is good and interest, attendance and merch sales are up. This is a response to a poopty product hemorrhaging money due to complete incompetence from Botterill.

Had he acquired a 2C, this doesn't happen.

This is like one year ago Fitz level stubbornness.

As bad as Botterill was at his job, the Pegula’s are far, far, far worse at theirs. And we have a 9 year sample.

That’s really sad

It COULD get worse, if Gerbe gets his secret wish, which is for Eichel to ask out.

They spent over the cap for Botterill's poopty roster and it didnt matter. Things will get better now that he's gone. He was straight up awful

Yeah but he doesn't tell you that TM traded multiple picks and prospects plus a few roster players to get Kane and ROR. And other then Rhino and Eichel, Ollie is about the only pick he made that is on the team right know. You should go to WGR 55 Vault on TM and read what he did while here. He was just as bad as Botts.

And the 6 years before him? Or are you legitimately pretending the Sabres 9 year playoff drought is because they didn’t get a 2c those 2 off seasons?

If fixing the Sabres meant killing a dragon we managed to cut off three of his toes. The dragon is still alive and well

There's a lot of blame to go around for the last decade, failure of multiple GM's.
