Why would the GM of a professional sports team care about the business side?

If they are in this to make money they should just sell the team now

a lot of focus on economics and getting leaner...terry even mentioned video scout 3000 stuff while talking about being leaner and more efficient

I don't necessarily begrudge the "leaner" comment on its own, even excluding present economics. They beefed up the scouting department and added coaching staff and got poop for results. However, it doesn't look good with everything else.

I think he may have been more worried about not having fans in the stands than anything else

Guys, today is such an exciting day to be a Sabres fan.

The owners are legitimately confirming everyone’s fears that they don’t care to invest in the Sabres any longer.

remember how we wished for a rich owner with deep pockets to take over from the frugal, "just break even," golisano ownership?

No one thought Victor Olofsson would be anything, either.

I apologize if I offend anyone with my optimism. Lately I've vented on here demanding change. They did it, and even though they didn't do a search like what is probably the logical choice, they at least did (frank)ing something, which is a lot more than Jason's done in three years.

(frank) it, new guy, new chance to succeed. (Or fail).

He's a new GM, new GMs have succeeded before. Jason Botterill had almost as much experience as Brandon Beane. One succeeded, one failed.

I like that Kevyn at least has significant managerial experience. I would demand that the org surround him with experienced individuals. The right experienced individuals.

But just because he's new doesn't mean he'll fail. There is zero data to suggest that he will, or won't.

He's here to stay for a while, embrace it or fight it, up to you. But at the very least, we're fans of this beleaguered franchise, let's just (frank)ing hope he works out.

What needed to change didn’t change. Therefore there really wasn’t a change.

It got worse. They’re cutting back on investing in the organization and are still involved in dtd decisions.

No offense but how anyone can be optimistic about what they did And that press conference is just mind numbing

Really? Why?

Hiring a GM is largely a crapshoot. Botts was a good choice. He had potential, he was well regarded, and someone else would have hired him if the Sabres didn't.

Turns out he sucks as a GM. So now...Adams is the guy. He is a fine hockey guy. He might be good. Who knows. It is an okay move. The only unacceptable move was to give Botts another year when he has proven he can't do the job.

Happy happy day for sabres fans IMO.

Because I want to be. That's it. No data. No math. I just want to not be (frank)ing miserable.
