As much as i wanted him gone, they hired a yes man.

"We need to spend money on good players"

Kim - Yea, were going to have to let you go

LOL to all the super fans that spent months telling us that we're crazy to think Botterill won't be back this year. You nailed it!

They could have hired a dolphin in a top hat to be GM and I'd still be excited Botterill is gone

"This morning, we informed Jason Botterill he will no longer be the General Manager of the Sabres. This decision was made after many candid discussions with Jason during a full review of our hockey operation. We recognized we have philosophical differences regarding how best to put ourselves in a position to compete for a Stanley Cup. So, we decided to make this change," team owners Terry and Kim Pegula said in statement

Do I really want to know what the philosophical differences really are?

Being one of 7 teams out of 31 that couldn't even make an expanded playoff format, and then promoting from within is how you stay in that position.

I knew it after the first full year..... But it's time to start being wrong about one of these guys. Im just glad Botts is GONE he was 100% useless... PLEASE let's let the Pittsburgh connection die from now on.

Remember when Russ Brandon made the GM calls whatever year it was? This is what this feels like.

Jason wants to spend money smartly and though the draft

Terry doesn't have money for Kim to spend...

Also there is no "interim" tag

He is the GM

They should have just made Ralph the GM

Fire Botterill? Great!!

Hire Adams who has been an assistant coach and vice president of business ops but never touched a trade, free agent signing or draft pick and was thrown to the wolves by the Pegula's mid-season when they wouldn't answer questions themselves?!... Terrible...

This is a clear yes man move to further their control of the team... I didn't think it could be more comical over there... Guess I was wrong.

I'll take a wait and see approach to Kevyn Adams being the GM. Im won't be bridge jumping like some of you. Not yet anyway

I agree Adams is a puppet. We will need a VP of hockey now so there is a buffer between him and Kim

We don't really kn9w how Adams will be, give him a chance. Can't really be worse than Jbotts, right. Plus Adams is close to Ralph so they're probably trying to duplicate the Bills dynamic

Same statement people said after the ROR trade or the fact that Bots did nothing at the deadline etc... Sometimes, on the surface something is bad and in reality actually bad....

They absolutely had to make a change. Botterill's tenure was embarrassingly bad. Ill give Adams a chance. It would be almost impossible to be as bad as Botterill

Veteran assistant GM Randy Sexton was also let go by the Sabres. Both Sexton and Botterill had two more years left on their deals after this season.
