Tough one! I think Scenario 2 would be mine but passing on Lafreniere could prove fatal!

Agree 100% with the rankings of "Tiers"

Question: If Ottawa was to get the 15th overall pick from NYI (loosing to Panthers) would you trade this 15th pick + a second rounder to move up to 10th overall; NJs' pick. NJ has 3 1st rounders, but NO 2nd or 3rds.

If Dorion wants his guy bad enough he will pull the trigger to move up to grab him.
Bryan Murray’s best trade IMO was his 3rd trade as Sens GM, he traded up to draft Karlsson 15th overall in 2008.

If he stays put and gets say picks #2 , #4 & #17 he could draft Byfeild, Drysdale & Quinn and that would be a great draft.

Best center available, best defender available & Quinn has tons of offensive upside.

I agree 100% about the Karlsson trade.

Lots of time for us fans to talk about our picks, we will know our top 5/6 picks soon - then when round 1 is over, we will know (roughly) where NYI will finish, unless they go on a run. Pray that doesn't happen!

I was at Scotiabank Place for the entire draft which took 2 days. When it was announced that Ottawa had made a trade to move up, all the Sens fans were excited. When they chose Karlsson you could have heard a pin drop, nobody had heard of him. I was the only one who had any information on him so I had my 5 minutes of fame passing around my data on him. Karlsson came out of the stands and sat at the Sens table the entire first day. He had swagger as a teenager!

What few people knew was Karlsson was the fastest rising player in the draft. The Sens wanted him and heard that the Ducks were going to pick him hence the trade up. This year according to Pierre McGuire it is Jake Sanderson who he
compares to Karlsson ( not as a superstar ) but how he has come out of nowhere to be neck and neck with Drysdale.
I went the second day to see my nephew get drafted by Atlanta.

if my memory serves me right, was it not Alfredsson that pushed the team to draft Karlsson.
