You can't spit wrong if you're a cop right now.
- Buff36

I was watching the live streams last night

I feel bad for those cops

under no circumstance should these people be 6 inches away, insulating cops at the top of their lungs for hours upon hours with 100 cell phones video taping it

last night was organized

when they took over I75, they instructed the white people to stay behind and keep the road blocked while they went down the hill to destroy the wendys

wendys had nothing to do with this, and now 30 people or so are out of a job

nice peaceful protest

I don't know Homie, taser can be lethal if not used properly. I don’t know which ones the Atlanta police use the X26 or X3 or 7, but some of them are multiple shot, and you can clearly see on the video that the guy shots it atleast 1 time.

oh I agree

the cop had every right to defend himself and fire real bullets at him

and under no circumstance should a cop being attacked, lose his job like he did the next day

there is going to come a time, in the near future, when many people are going to need help from the police, and they will not get there in time and lives will be lost

Regarding the overall horribleness of our world lately, to keep my sanity, I've been trying to avoid watching the news, listening to press conferences, reading certain posts on here, and avoiding social media. I'm better off burying my head in the sand and avoiding all bad news - I've just had enough of this crap. I've decided that if I see a post on here regarding cops, protests, looting, or Trump, i'm just quickly moving on and try not to gather any info from it. Hopefully, I didn't see anything in the post that triggers me. I'm just DONE with 2020.

What I heard and saw
Police responded to a call of a man sleeping at the drive through Wendy's
Police conducted a sobriety test, the subject failed
Subject wrestles with two police officers, grabs taser gun and begins to run away
Subject fires gun in direction of pursuing officer while running
Officer fires his gun at subject while on the move in continued pursuit
Subject hit and drops in a heap

What others said occurred as well
Officers wait 2+ minutes to check on him, call for medical help
Officers removed bullets from the scene with their plastic gloves on

My thoughts
Police were obviously justified in engaging with the subject, responding to the call
Police were justified in the physical altercation
Police were justified in pursuing subject
Police have to make decisions in split seconds while under extreme duress

Up to that point all is good with all the actions of the police, IMO

That said, I'm not sure all that justifies the use of deadly force however
What about discharging a warning shot in the air prior to the use of deadly force
The concept of targeting a leg of a running man is purely insane, ignorant thinking...might just as well just give up altogether.
Why did they clean up the scene, IF THEY INFACT DID.

There are clearly questions needing answers.

Now, for me,
I swear, if I was a cop, I be very tempted to patrol for vehicle infractions only.
Tell the public, call Child Protective Services to send a drug counselor to respond to that call...can't win, people want to defund the police...good, here ya go do it yourself then.

for those late to the game

1. an african american was passed out drunk in his car at a wendy's drive thru last night

2. cops tried to arrest him after he failed a sobriety test

3. african american male then started fighting with the 2 cops

4. the african american male grabbed a cop's taser and ran away

5. the cops chased him

6. the african american fired the taser at the cop

7. the cop shot him and killed him

so if the man was not driving drunk, firing a taser at a cop, and resisting arrest

he would be alive today

- homiedclown

It's a touchy situation right know Ion. This could go 2 ways, either people start listening and change happens, or it gets worse and more people die unfortunately.

What would you be willing to give up for Anthony Cirelli. Would you take back a cap dump to make it happen.

What degree of cap dump?

If the Lightning ask for the 2020 1st and Cozens, then no.

I'd rather give up less to get Monahan, who still has 3 years left on his deal.

When you add in what Cirelli may get on his new deal, you're looking at potentially $10M combined against the cap for the next 3 years.

You would also have to move wingers around as you'd have Skinner, Olofsson, Kahun, and Killorn as top 9 LW players.

How much cap hit is going the other way?

What else will Tampa want aside from presumably the 2020 1st?

Depending on if the shells where picked up as evidence. Kinda hard to cover it up with all the video. And you do know that Taser guns can be lethal when not properly used. Hate that another person died, it is horrible. He shouldn't have fought with the Cops, shouldn't have taken the Taser Gun, shouldn't have run and shouldn't have pointed the gun at the cops and fired it.

from what I've gathered, the police had already asked for his permission and frisked him for weapons and he had none, something they already knew...they had his car parked in the lot and i'd assume had his license information...he already been through field sobriety tests including a breathalyzer test both of which, apparently, indicated he was driving while under the influence...

if he gets away, a warrant is issued and he's eventually arrested...

not saying what I would do in that tense situation would be any different as a suspect is shooting my taser at me while fleeing, however, they could have gotten him at a later date if he got away because they had all the information they needed including body cam identification

Just trying to talk a little hockey, I don't think I would even give up this year's 1st for Cirelli, maybe next years, and I wouldn't consider a cap dump. Just trying to see how far people are willing to go.

Killorn is coming off a strong season. He's not a cap dump (a player who produces very little compared to what they are paid).

Cap dump is a term being thrown around a bit too much.
