Buzztron has Gaudreau going to the Kansas City Scouts.

- gergeswillems

I've been worried that the Buzztron was damaged in the riots. We haven't heard anything about the Buzztron lately. Ek has even started doing previews of playoff matchups and no Buzztron mentions. Its also possible that it self destructed after the Covid-factor was programmed in.

Don't forget the vaccine factor, the riot factor, and the piped in crowd noise factor.

I was from southern Ontario, lived their for 30 years, came out here to Calgary, I stayed...

Toronto is nice enough, but it's brutally busy, I like how wide open Calgary is, besides better water and air quality, and way more picturesque and much slower pace of life... easier to lay my roots here...

This supports the original argument. You came somewhere else to live, liked it, and probably don't want to return home. Most people I encounter feel this way. Alberta probably seems great to you? I grew up there. Great place to work or visit, but imo a poopty place to live.

Ah, they do I lived there...you see NHL players in Banff all the time

BANFF, Alberta - The Penguins arrived in Banff, Alberta in the late afternoon on Saturday and will spend a two days in the beautiful ski resort town. (late October, season in full swing)

"It was beautiful. The sun was setting on one side of the mountains and the moon was on the other side," Murray said. "It was really cool. We're really lucky we get to see places like this. Not everybody gets to see that on occasions. I feel really lucky. It was a really cool experience."

Canes were there for two days in December this season...just what I found on a 2 second google search "Mr. Facts"

- flashfire

Yes the Canes actualy made a big deal out of their trip there, held a practice in the city and hung out for a couple days.

They did it last season too, when they went curling there.

K, I'll bite. What would a hypothetical trade with NJ look like if Johnny went the other way.

Gaudreau is younger, better, has term on his contract at an extremely team friendly cap hit ($6.25M), there is no doubt he brings in a bigger haul than NJ got on the Hall trade.

With that being said, are we talking a good roster player (top 6 forward or top 4 dman), a 1st round draft pick, 2nd round draft pick and a top prospect?

Too much? Too little?

How about Palmieri, Ty Smith and the Devils 2020 first assuming this pick does not win the lottery?

I'd hope for 2 of the Devil's first round picks this year and a solid prospect.

The Devils will probably screw it all up by winning the lottery though.

All of these offers for Gaudreau are massive overpayments. Why would Jersey do that for 2 years of Gaudreau and then likely lose him as a UFA. These aren't even 2 years in which Jersey is contending. Makes zero sense. You only make this deal with a handshake agreement that he'll extend long-term.

Look what NJ got for 3 months and 1 playoff of Taylor Hall. You have to think the Flames would need significantly more for 2 full years of JG no?

The Devils could already be maturing into a contending team next year without Gaudreau if their goaltending works out.

Depends how you define contending. Playoffs? Sure, you can put a good argument to that. Cup run? Yeah, that’s gonna be a tough cause to champion.

However. Johnny is exactly the type of player NJ does NOT need. He would improve their team. Johnny would improve most teams. Just not enough. Johnny isn't physically capable of carrying the team like Hall did that one year.

If Calgary did trade Johnny to NJ, or most teams, I would expect the return to be very underwhelming. The book is out on him. Not to mention I wonder how effective Johnny would be away from Monahan. Scoring centers are extremely rare and that is absolutely part of Johnnys success to date.

- Aerchon

I disagree. If I was a Devils fan, I'd be giddy with excitement at the prospect of bringing Johnny Hockey to my team. He's a local boy, he's exciting to watch, he has that aura of fame, and would add a high level of offence to the team.

It all sounds like a pipe dream for Ek and for the Debbie.
Saying that, any real trade would need more than just pics and futures.
At the very least, it would need to include a future top 6 forward.
Maybe Hichier or Hughes.

If we know we're getting Hall then we do not want any roster players back from New Jersey, we're much better off getting a couple of their first rounders or a first, third and Nolan Foote, or something like that. Getting a roster player isn't the goal here, it's get Hall for free and for longer term and get a some great prospects in the Gaudreau trade. Now, with that being said, if don't get Hall and we want rosters players for Johnny, then I think the Flyers would be the better option because they definitely have a better team.

What would you be looking for outta Philly? Some sort of pieced combo of Sanheim, Frost, Farabee, York, Myers and Brink? Zamula is another one. They have a lot to offer on young defensive prospects with decent to quite high upside. I put Myers on that list, but he’s going to be a difficult one to pry away with how much stock they’re putting in him. And yeah, I know, JG is a hell of a commodity.

Plus picks might have to be exchanged somewhere, ofc.

A truly lousy forward set!

But wait it gets worse...way worse...apparently teams are supposed to have defensemen and goalies.

Johnny Hockey can’t save the Devils, if he came back East he needs to go to Philly.

Replace JG with Taylor Hall, then trade him to the Devils for something like: Palmieri, Ty Smith, a high first round pick, and a 2nd round pick! Love it! The Flames will be sooooo good. Ty Smith (or Kylington who I really like) replaces Brodie, Valimaki replaces Hamonic... We are set!

Even without the 2nd rounder, I do this trade. A high 1st rounder this year is likely to get a very very good player, this draft is supposed to be one of the best in years.

Well for me, the only option would be Konecny and I just don't know Philly would be willing to give him up. If the rumors are true and JG is going to leave after this contract runs out and he's going to sign with Philly, they won't give up much because they think they'll get him for free. We could take some young d like you suggested but does that put us in a rebuild because we'd be trading away our highest scorer. It's a tough one man, let's keep our fingers crossed that either Johnny wants to sign long term or this whole Taylor Hall signing and getting picks and a top prospect (I'd love to get Foote) from NJ happens.
