My fave is when alt rights start mewling about how everyone's being mean to them. Just like little boy Trump crying. That's like chocolate to me.

Oh 100%.

It's tougher to deal with when you get a complete (frank)ing dunce like uggie whos far to arrogant/underdeveloped to get to the self victimization.

Who needs refs when you have the SJW Brigade on patrol?

Not siding with the Trump (frank)wits, but the comparison of population to deaths is not valid.

A far better comparison would be violent crime% to deaths. Last I heard blacks accounted for 47% of the violent crime.

If a problem needs to be addressed, I would suggest that it is the disproportionately high crime rate rather than some systemic problem with the police running around killing blacks. No, I am not saying that the Minnesota police were innocent. Those (frank)ers need to spend the rest of the miserable lives behind bars.

From what I understand, two of the officers charged were on the job for less than a week. Chauvin was the senior cop and was "training" them. If true, that doesn't necessarily absolve these officers from stopping the slow murder of George Floyd, but it does shed a different shade of light on the rookies.

Frankly, I think we're only scratching the surface here with Floyd's murder. I'm not ruling out racism as a motivation to this murder, but it sounds like there have been years and years of abuses that have been overlooked in the Minneapolis police department. The whole squad sounds like a corrupt, abusive, thug operation. Here's hoping heads from top-to-bottom roll. They're (frank)ing gangsters.

As I understand it, the amount of training it takes to deputize a recruit is something ridiculous like 4 months. How does that make any sense? Also, how the (frank) does it make sense that sheriffs are elected?

Law enforcement needs major, major reform.

Frankly, the solution is not clear but I think that impoverished communities are starving for economic existence to break the cycle of poverty that has very likely persisted from systemic, racist policies of the past. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy at work that cannot be broken until appropriate stimulus is allocated and community leadership and accountability has been promoted.

FFS. It's a mess.

Not anymore. Stop pretending like the Confederates won the civil war.

You're getting closer to the answer; it's a class issue. The ruling class, the oligarchs of America fund both parties and guarantee their control over the country while they divide the population and watch them fight with each other so the upper 1% can run away with all the money.

And it all evolved out of the cotton industry and slavery: the power of the factory owner, the modern financial markets that the 1%, all of it. It's worth reading.

When I was reading the comments (Canucks thread) last week, they were talking about Krapstain getting banned for posting racist comments. There’s hope.

Defunding the police is actually worth considering. From what understand, defunding simply means shifting some funds from poling to community programs (social, mental health, education, etc). Since the US spends so much more on policing and incarceration and continues to cut community supports, this might be worth looking at. On top of this, there is a growing trend of militarizing the police, making them look like they're on patrol in Afghanistan rather than in their own country which creates distrust and enhances violence on both sides.

However there is big (Republican) money in private prisons.

I have two friends who are police officers (1 retired). There is no question racism exists on the police force, but it is a symptom of a greater problem. Racism in society as a whole causes poverty and the lack of hope, and often substance abuse and crime. This perpetuates itself generation after generation in these communities.

I don't know what the answer is, but I am pretty sure that throwing money at them is not it. I think change will happen, but the wheels turn damn slowly.

Look at the changes that have happened in our lifetime. We have a long way to go, but there is a big difference between today and 45 years ago.
