Didn't Dillon just come of a 3.25m per contract, and that surprises me with DeMelo, he just came of a 925k per
- Buff36

With Dillon, see his age and that he's a one trick pony (zero offense, all defense).

With DeMelo, he had a very nice season, and he's the apple of many an advanced stats eye, along with not costing much for what he brings (very solid both offensively and defensively).

Well that would not be bad then, basically we have are second pairing for a little over 6m

I'll add that, Jack Johnson aside, what the Penguins have done as an organization with bringing in the trio of John Marino (acquired in a trade with Edmonton for a 6th (!!!) round pick), Marcus Pettersson (acquired in a trade with Anaheim for Daniel Sprong), and Juuso Riikola (undrafted free agent), has fortified their defense tremendously, at not much cost in terms of asset or cap hit (although Pettersson begins a 5 year $20.125M deal, paying him $4.025M per from the ages of 25 to 29).

Those kinds of savvy GM moves are precisely what the Sabres need now and in the future.

It would be $6.5M, for 4 years (Dillon) and 3 years (DeMelo) respectively.

I don't dislike it, but I don't love it.

The Okposo contract still really hurts the team, but overall, the raises that Dahlin and Jokiharju may get after next season could really cause issues.

Would I take a 2nd pair of Dillon - DeMelo at a combined $6.581M for the next 2 years if it also means a significant forward upgrade as well? Yes sir.

Would I be comfortable with a pair of Dillon - DeMelo at a combined $7M per for the next 4 years, until Dillon is 33 and DeMelo is 31, while having the pair of Dahlin and Jokiharju earning significant raises?

That's where things get a little more tricky.

Ya, I'd go 3 on each.

3 would be the longest I would go on each, if they would do that. Still costing you about 3m less then having Risto and Montour.

3 on each would bring their total cost in at just over $6M per combined.

I am not sure if 3 years would get both of them to sign.

Is there numbers out there for Montour and his projection. Say we get Dillon for 3 and DeMelo for 4, are we still under what either would make on Montour projections.

Yes, unless they go for a short term deal.

The top 3 for Montour by probability are:

24% - 3 years @ $4.802M per
18% - 2 years @ $4.065M per
18% - 6 years @ $5.638M per

If Montour can be used in a package for a 2C or 2RW could make it a interesting switch depending on what the cap is for the player coming back. Especially if Risto or Miller is moved too we could actually save money for Dahlin or Joker, it would be tricky.

It would help for planning purposes, but what do you offer Dahlin that isn't ludicrous, from both sides?

Haven't found more from the nationalism conference where the comments originally took place. I did find more from the same House hearing on hate crimes that the Lieu clip came from. She speaks of her family history, hardly seems the breeding ground for a white supremacist sympathizer. I guess anything is possible, but it'd be like Clayton Bigsby being real. A black white-supremacist 🙄

She does come out spitting fire, I can see why the liberals try to minimize her.

Interesting if Taylor Hall, who is from Calgary, is in fact planning on signing with Calgary as a UFA (UFA start time would be 12/1?), that would make the idea of obtaining Monahan even more of a possibility?

Yes it could, hopefully Botts has his eyes open and is studying the landscape, could be a few teams ripe for the pickings.

It may change the asked for return for Monahan, or maybe it won't?

With all the Gaudreau to the Flyers talk when his deal is up in 2 years, maybe they would want a quality winger to eventually replace him, and Reinhart would fit that?

I'm completely guessing on that.

I think I heard training camp opens July 10th. Ill assume games begin 8-1-20. Typically the playoffs run from about April 10-June 20. Add 10 more days for the 5-game play in.

By my math, the cup will be awarded by Halloween. Free agency could conceivably begin immediately on Nov. 1. Training camp opening around December 10th and the first game play on 1-1-21

Thats my guess

Here's the entire hearing without edits. The site's a bit difficult to navigate but it's there in it's entirety. https://www.c-span.org/vi...olds-hearing-hate-crimes#

Interesting to note that the second video you posted added applause and said that there was a standing ovation after an Owens response in the fist part. Although her response was good, no such thing happened.

My guess is it will be a little bit sooner. If you're playing all the games in one city, you don't need travel days. You might end up with a couple of back-to-backs to make it work as well.

Not a bad guess, wonder if they would take a Dman, they have Brodie, Gustafson, Harmonic and Forbet all FA this year.

Yeah it all depends on whether they will still do the day off between games. I think they would want to so they could stagger the games for more viewership, but maybe getting it done sooner is the priority. If they intend to play games from 1pm to 10 pm everyday constantly, they can wrap it up quickly

if they do it like that, the teams that make it to the SCF will be at a huge disadvantage when it comes to next season.. Buffalo will be WELL rested, not that it really matters for them
