The look on his face when he hears boos coming down from an empty rink would be great. Tavares will handle it well though
- Canada Cup

One thing that should help the Leafs is playing in an empty rink won't be too weird for them. They're used to silent crowds. So probably won't seem too different.

Could also take a huge amount of pressure off their shoulders not being in Toronto especially if they fall behind.

It'll be interesting to see what kind of media is allowed in the hub cities. They should probably keep the media group as small and exclusive as possible.

I've always found the sports media especially useless because they all ask the same stupid questions and the players give them the same canned answers. Put select players at a podium with one microphone and have the media ask questions remotely. This is a great excuse to cut out a lot of the media before and after games.

Although I’m not a much of a fan of either football or Brees .. I’m sure as hell no fan of Crapernaks.. anybody wearing pig socks and being a fan of that ghoul Castro is no one to be aspired to.

They both have the right to think and say what they want.

(frank) all of you.
In any case, if a racist KKK mob comes to look to lynch a black guy - CC and JFJ would do anything possible to protect the guy.

The gull. Joel and artic would give up the black guy in about 15 seconds.

How in the (frank) did I get dragged into this?! I haven't chimed in with a single political opinion through all this madness aside from correcting (frank) face on his vote comment... Which wasn't opinion based.

You really are that stupid, and your ass really is that sore.

The one statement I will make on all your political bullpoop is that i wouldn't give up any human to a mob if they didn't deserve it (pedo) and I'm not checking for colour to make that decision.

Smarten the (frank) up with your dumbass comments.

Max called half a dozen of us a “rape apologist” for pointing out that Keefe - who Max calls a rapist - was never even accused of rape. Which earned him a ban.

He defends and reveres Putin.

He called Marner’s mom “trailer trash” because she was flossing. Then has the audacity to criticize Aetherial’s Women Hottness brackets as “objectifying.”

He’s a troll, a liar, a hypocrite, and a (frank)ing (frank).

you constantly change people's words to fit your narrative and accusations - in order to put a person in a bad daylight, just because that person has a different view than you.
you are definitely the example of a rat and no doubt in my mind you would be what was called in WWII a 'collaborateur'.

I never called Keefe a rapist.
I pointed out that Keefe was (actively) part of a very bad group of people when he was younger - and to me it is not an excuse that he was young to step up against others in that group who are actively taking part of violent and criminal behaviour.
I then went on to say that - although I agree that people deserve a 2nd chance and I do think he has changes - it says something about him as a person (intrinsic character) and therefor I don't feel he should be given a free pass on this (as in being handed the Leafs' coaching position)

It seems that people are saying that 'racism is the primary reason for people living in poverty'. Others like myself are actually saying that poverty is the main underlying cause why people are put in a disadvantaged position.

If people want to address inequal opportunities - address poverty. This can be done by making sure that there is good access to decent-quality public healthcare and public education; in particular for young children and young girls.

creating a more stable environment (including a stable 2 parent family - or any family structure that would provide stability and security for children) will help giving young children and youth a better start in life than growing up in an environment of poverty, violence, drug and alcohol abuse and no focus on health and education.

again untrue.

Media pushed the hiring as a 'diversity hire' just because she's a women.
when you want to really create a diverse hiring structure, focus on personality traits - not on the fact she is a women (that doesn't say anything about her being 'diverse' from the rest of that group).

In the media, this was presented as a 'diversity hire' since she is a woman.
She was simply hired because of the fact that she was the best candidate.

Wickenhauser herself on this:

"The biggest reason why I was intrigued about this role is that Kyle was interested in me — not to hire a woman, but to hire someone who could do the job," Wickenheiser said on a conference call. "I feel pretty confident in my abilities to be in this role and that I belong and can handle myself with anyone."

The 40-year-old from Shaunavon, Sask., retired as a player in 2017, finishing as the career leading scorer for the Canadian women’s national team with 168 goals and 211 assists for 379 points in 276 games.

"I know how those guys think, how they approach the game, day in and day out," she said. "I can help players get better and understand what it takes to get better.

Very good and I think based on the fact that she's the best candidate (due to her experience and personal background and traits) - a great add to the organization.

I had an issue with Dubas then trying to halfly spin this into a 'we hired a woman' news item (or at least that's how it was picked up by quite a lot of media)

“I just think the more diverse you can make your organization (the better) – and that’s just not a male and female thing. We’ve got a fairly diverse group of people on our sports science side and other areas,” said Dubas, in a conference call with reporters.

“Research shows, the more diverse your organization, the better your decision-making and the better your operation in general. If you’re only hiring white males – and I’m saying that as a white male – you’re probably leaving a lot of good people, in terms of what where your organization can go and how it can think and how it can evolve and develop.

“I don’t think we’ve gone out and said, ‘we want to hire females only, males only, anything like that.’ We’re looking for the best candidates. We’re not pushing anybody aside – and I think sports in general are moving well in that direction. It’s been great to see. Basketball’s probably been by far the best with that, baseball as well.

“I just think it’s going to make sports and how they operate that much better as we all progress and move along.”

so my criticism wasn't against Dubas (He is very right in the points above - if that indeed is not based on generalizations, but on actual personal traits - he isn't very clear on that at all).
It was against how this was spun as a diversity hire by media.

EDIT: my point with Dubas was that he was assuming that white male A and white male B are more alike (in personality traits when looking at diversity) than white male A and white female C.

Considering Andersen is historically cold coming out of the gate, and they've been on break for several months... This is basically like starting a new season almost. I can see him being pretty mediocre lol. I hope I'm wrong.

Since he's living with Matthews I hope he's facing hundreds of Matthews shots a day and has become amazing, but in reality they're probably just getting wasted, playing video games and jacking it together in the hot tub.

Bs. You bemoaned dubas for hiring a woman. Just as you did cause he celebrated and victory

How is it dubas fault for how the media presented the story? In your post it even said this isn't about being a man or a woman it's about the diversity of opinions of the group (which is what you claim to want, but dubas says it and you either ignore this or change the goal posts)

I wasn't talking about Wickenhiser hire, was talking about the scout that was hired

I haven't been around enough lately to help with the votes. I'm sorry. Shakira was pretty hot, but probably wouldn't even make my top ten hottest musicians.

Of course it is objectifying.

Hollywood actors, men and women, are objectified all day, every day, all over the world.

I guess we could debate all day (hint: I won't be a part of that debate) whether that is "right" or "wrong". First, I don't care if it is right or wrong. Second, these people live a life of fame and fortune based largely on their looks. There are very few actors that are successful on talent alone (and they are mostly male, and not generally in this genre of movies).

They look good. They work at it. They make their living off it. Comparing one to the other with public domain pictures doesn't seem like a mortal sin to me. In fact, criticizing the comparison seems stupid, naive, and amounts to nothing more than virtue signalling.

Cate Blanchette voted out, although Halle Berry was a tough draw. Unfortunately she was one of my Faves. Hela is top 2 or 3 chars in the whole bracket, not to mention:

IMHO, toughest matchup so far. Thinking A wins here but I'm going with B.

Still depressed Goth Blanchett was ousted.
