I hope Edmonton gets to be a hub city because they'll probably make the best ice but it might not happen because the federal government would have to make it easier for all those people to enter the country. - JohnFergusonJr
Agree man. Hopefully the Alberta government will keep putting pressure on the Feds to make exceptions. Canada needs to have one hub. |

Leafs training camp being held in Buffalo likely points to Toronto not being a Hub city. Makes sense to have it in Edmonton where there are less Covid cases and yahoo’s. - DrunkenCanuck

One consideration for hubs is how well the arenas are set up for t.v. What makes Orlando so good for NBA is that they have all these camera ready arenas. I don’t know what Buffalo, Edmonton, etc have
Also, it will be nice for them to see some playoff caliber players |

I didn’t read the article but I think down goes brown did an athletic article on each playoff team drafting a player from the non playoff teams for the playoffs. Obviously it was hypothetical but I can guarantee jack eichel would be all over that. |

they were imported
IMO both hub cities will be in the States unless the 14 quarantine is over in Canada unless there's an exception being made.
who knows, perhaps the border will remain closed for the summer.

Mr. Ellison said he was under no illusion that bringing a successful prosecution against the former police officers would be difficult.
"Winning a conviction will be hard. History does show there are clear challenges," he said.
Only one officer in Minnesota has been convicted of killing a civilian while serving in the role. |

So, interesting question, with a lot of grey areas.
First, players do make a bit of money for every round they advance. Back in the day, this used to be a huge incentive, because up until the late 1960s, most of the guys would have summer jobs.
https://thehockeywriters....yer-playoff-compensation/
But here's where it gets a little weirder:
Thanks to the CBA, players are not guaranteed their full salaries. That's the escrow.
So if I'm making 10 million a year, but the NHL only makes 95% of the revenues it projected when setting the salary cap, I only get paid $9.5 million.
So the players are already going to take a huge hit on their salaries this year, as they lost roughly 12.5% of the regular season revenues from tix, TV, beer and hot dogs.
So there is a financial incentive for them to participate in the playoffs, to try to get more of their 2019-20 salaries.
But I've yet to see any kind of guess as to how much that will be. I'm guessing it won't be that significant. - Atomic Wedgie Thanks for the response. I thought I remembered hearing that players didn’t receive checks since the stop of play. Shouldn’t the teams have to pay the players regardless? Then they could claw it back via the escrow to make the 50/50 revenue split instead of not paying them in the first place. I knew about the escrow, but totally didn’t factor that in for this. |
