I do think that would be a good series, the Leafs speed and skill against against a tough physical team like Columbus . I wonder are players allowed to decline participating in the playoffs if they don't feel its safe? - PatC80
Are the players being compensated at all? I assume they missed some sort of pay from the months of March and April. If so what would that mean for the teams that were ‘eliminated’? Correct me if I’m wrong, but they usually don’t pay the players for the playoffs anyways, so is that money just gone? |

I think you're right they don't get paid for playoffs. I'm not sure if they got their March or April pay though. |

It’s not normal CBA rules. They had to negotiate some new arrangements but whether it is net new money or just that they don’t lose as much as they would have is unclear. It’s also unclear if and how non-playoff players factor in.
Maybe it’s clear to others but I haven’t heard anything. |

But Cuomo on CNN telling people they don't have to protest peacefully, nah, that won't make anything worse. |

My summer plans are to hang out at Hockeybuzz and rehash bringing back Wendel a second time (nobody debates whether or not his 3rd stint was a good thing; it was not). |

Nope. Nobody thinks those cops are innocent. There might be mitigating factors in how their trial goes but everybody knows those cops didn't do their job that day. |

So, interesting question, with a lot of grey areas.
First, players do make a bit of money for every round they advance. Back in the day, this used to be a huge incentive, because up until the late 1960s, most of the guys would have summer jobs.
https://thehockeywriters....yer-playoff-compensation/
But here's where it gets a little weirder:
Thanks to the CBA, players are not guaranteed their full salaries. That's the escrow.
So if I'm making 10 million a year, but the NHL only makes 95% of the revenues it projected when setting the salary cap, I only get paid $9.5 million.
So the players are already going to take a huge hit on their salaries this year, as they lost roughly 12.5% of the regular season revenues from tix, TV, beer and hot dogs.
So there is a financial incentive for them to participate in the playoffs, to try to get more of their 2019-20 salaries.
But I've yet to see any kind of guess as to how much that will be. I'm guessing it won't be that significant. |

Between 11-13 deaths so far caused by riots. Not to mention the firefighters assaulted, journalists assaulted, buildings set on fire; it's been a lot more than just looting.
Clearly you ignored my reply, go back and find it if you're so curious.
