He’s just trying to stick up for Benning in that he still doesn’t have the caliber of players needed to actually have three scoring lines.
- 1970vintage

Sticking up for Benning? I disagree. He puts Benning(and himself) in a position when he preaches 3 scoring lines before camp even opens if there isnt enough talent to set more than 1 scoring line.

Green has the talent at his disposal to put together 2 scoring lines but insists on killing the Horvat line.

From what I understand they're still part of the original ten locations decided on before the callous murder that took place in Minny.

Maybe one day but he isnt showing that yet. His insistence of always making sure Horvat's line is bogged down with grinders and never putting together more than one scoring line shows me that he is stuck in a rut regarding his coaching style. He doesnt defend this coaching tactic neither... instead he preaches a false narrative about 3 scoring lines. Thats pure rubbish. He hasnt the confidence to do that yet and proves it game in, game out. He just tells the fans what they want to hear. Good move because most fans watch with their ears.

I don’t like our chances against Colorado but I think their minds are made up.

A friend of mine is a leaf fan. He’s not overly excited about the playoffs. Couldn’t understand why. But found out that if the leafs win their qualifying round they face the bruins.

Now I understand his disinterest

That and Columbus would spank the Leafs in the play thing.

It’s a close matchup but I think the leafs win that one. The bruins not so much.

They set up a bracket style until we are told different. I think you confused media etc discussing ideas.

I'm not sure. This is from the NHL.com website:

In the Western Conference, the St. Louis Blues (42-19-10, .662), Colorado Avalanche (42-20-8, .657), Vegas Golden Knights (39-24-8, .606) and Dallas Stars (37-24-8, .594) will each have a bye and play round-robin to determine their seeding order.

Why would they say seeding order if it's already set?

Edit:
The Return to Play Committee is discussing whether those first-round series will be set through seeding or by bracket.

Bettman also announced that the league has not yet decided if it will be a bracket format or determined by seeding following the opening round. The First Round will be in a best-of-five series format while the Second Round will transition to a best-of-seven series format. The Conference Finals and Stanley Cup Finals will also be in a traditional best-of-seven format.

Doesn't seem like its set yet?

Weird. I thought it was set too. Just goes to show there’s still a lot to figure out before it happens, if it happens at all.

Ya, put in some edits above from NHL.com and CBS. Doesn't seem like there's anything set yet. But would make the round robin games for the top teams mean something if they seed against better or worse teams

I hope not. Makes no sense not to reseed after the play in round.

Buffalo misses the playoffs again, 9 years in a row. Feel sorry for Eichel. Sabres had 3 fights this year and less than 20 hits per game. You think some of the 19 players who scored less than ten goals might get mad and drop the gloves or throw a hit now and then.

It'd just be the top 4 teams round-robin play that would seed them 1-4. The teams playing the play-in would still be seeded 5-8.

Yes, the only thing we know right now is that the Canucks play the Wild. If they play.

Seeding of the top four teams in each division will be determined exclusively by the round robin. So if Dallas goes 3-0, they'll move from fourth up to first in the West, etc.

Also, it hasn't been decided at all about re-seeding vs. bracket after the play-in round. I think the league originally wanted the bracket and the players asked for re-seeding, so it's still up in the air.

And I don't think the usual bracket is confirmed for the Round of 16, either. They say that they usually do that to try to keep travel easier, but since there won't be any travel through the first two rounds at least, they could also end up re-seeding after one or more of the 'real' playoff rounds.

Leafs would take out CLB it's slaying that Bruin dragon which will be tough. With this Bizarre-year I could see the Leafs upsetting BOS.
