That’s what I got. Charcoal kettle and I absolutely love it. The only recommendation I can make is go charcoal and spend the money on a cast iron grill... not a stainless steel grill! Sacrilege!

We got rid of our BBQ and went with a Camp Chef grille, love it so far, more options for cooking.

Cast iron or not all agree. We had a Weber but stolen so need to hunt for a replacement.

Thanks Carol, hockey talk of course, but there is so much going on in the world right now.

Also, I’m not sure I agree with your math, or perhaps I misunderstood. Once they get to the 16 team playoffs it’s still best of 7, so still 16 wins to hoist the cup. It would be 19 wins for a team coming from the play-in. Or are they suggesting round 1 (of the 16) is only best of five as well?

Ridiculous and sad at the same time, why would people from a different country gather to demonstrate against something that hasn’t happened here?

I understand people’s passion for equality but this isn’t the United States of America, tell me when the last Canadian police officer murdered a black person so callously.

Sorry, just flagged you on accident. Have you been paying attention to the news? There’s a woman in Toronto that fell 20 + stories to her death while police were on scene. Family thinks police had something to do with it...

But you have a smoker correct? That’s an adequate alternative to a bbq if you’re doing ribs or fish or pork.

Yes, but the police were there because of her mental health. She was distraught and suicidal and her mother called the police to take her to a hospital. It sucks that the police have to be mental health professionals as well as law enforcement. It’s not fair for both the person in need of intervention and the officers involved.

For the family to say that the police pushed her out the window is just irresponsible and stupid. They have no idea what happened.

That’s a totally different situation than what’s happened in the US.

She had mental health issues, but the family is not convinced she took her own life in that way, and even if she did, police were on scene and responsible for her safety...

Is it? How do you know, were you there? EMS deems that the appropriate people to respond to that situation is the police. They were on scene and responsible. I’m not saying they pushed her, or had a part in it, I wasn’t there, I don’t know. But if the only people who are still alive are police officers, and the oversight people are former police officers, do you think that any responsibility by the police will be acknowledged?

Yes. The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is a provincial civilian law enforcement agency in Ontario that has the power and authority to investigate police officers and charge them with criminal offences.

There is no proof. It’s not required in the court of public opinion, which is the only court this case will ever be tried in.

If someone is threatening to harm themselves or others, it is absolutely the job of police to intervene.
Mental health workers are not trained nor equipped to disarm and detain people.

I disagree. I don’t think drug addiction or mental health issues are criminal acts. To me they are public health issues that law enforcement have been forced to deal alone without proper training because of a lack of a better solution.

Ministry of Health in BC put together a really good study on the issue. It’s long but it does a really good job in detailing a solution that sees law enforcement working alongside of mental health professionals to ensure safety for all.

Police and Mental Illness: Increased Interactions:

If the funding and training was available it would avoid situations like the one that happened in Ontario.

There are independent witnesses who are claiming she slipped trying to get from one balcony to another.
