All the regular season success in the world doesn't mean much if you can't get outta the first round of the playoffs. - OfManNotMachine
All the failures in the playoffs are meaningless if you can’t win in the regular season.
Just saying. I mean I like Gallant a lot more and am not advocating for Bruce B. It’s just for perspective.

Stevens is more intelligent and a better coach than your giving him credit for. He is ideal for a young team on a rebuilding team. He’s a good intelligent coach. |

It happened when he was with the Ducks. I'll look on YouTube and see if I can find press conference later today when I have time.
They got destroyed in a game and he said something along the lines of I have no answer for how we are being outplayed and being out coached. My jaw hit the floor. I would have fired that guy as soon as that press conference was over. Was it true? Sure probably... But as a coach you don't go out there and admit that!

Sean Day on waivers cant be worse then muller than again. - cu45161
Interesting. There must be an unknown story here, from "exceptional status" to potential washout. Previous exceptional status were Taveras, Ekblad and McDavid. There have been three after but still too early to tell, but look promising. Shame. |

I don't think he will fix our issues, but he is a free left sided defender who is still young, I would at least like to give him a chance at camp, it can't hurt. |

Sure, no problem with a tryout. From what I read he was not deleloped and had some personal issues. If he is interested why not give it a try, should cost very little. |

6’3 231 lbs. gotta like that. If he was drafted 81st overall he’s got to have some skill. Worth trying. |

I think everybody is being pretty harsh on Boudreau. A lot of the teams he coached had really tough matchups in post-seasons and weren't necessarily the best built teams. I think a lot of the success he's had in the regular season is because of quality of coaching but also able to get a lot of offense out of his players. I think this style is good for the current state of the game which is really speed oriented and will play well with the type of players we've been drafting lately.
Gallant is still my first choice but I think Boudreau is also a very good coach. |

Todd, I don't know if its fair to characterize Lavy as a veterans coach. Giroux, Voracheck, Forsberg, Fiala all had breakout seasons under him. Yeah he was dealing with more veteran rosters in general, but he didn't seem to have a problem integrating young players into the lineup. And maybe the team needs someone with a more in your face style. The worst part of opening the season the way we did was no one seemed bothered by it. Not saying Lavy is my first choice, but I'd still be happy if he ends up as the next coach. - rmdevil313
As Don Cherry said, all a new coach does is bump up 3 players TOI, and reduce 3. This causes those breakout seasons if properly assessed. Seems simple but Lav certainly picked the right guys to push forward. It would be refreshing to see our ineffective players get some reductions in TOI. Mermis earned a further look, PK deserves to be bottom pairing. Butch was inaffective, and I would look to see Smith/UFA, or someone else start chewing those minutes up as well. It's a simple change-up that can really spark the team. It has to be painful for guys struggling to crack the roster when guys are simply given the spot based on their salary. |
