What are your thoughts on signing Hogberg and Bernhardt before June 1, in conjunction with the Kalynuk situation.

- KINGKENZO

Bernhardt is a non-prospect at this point. Very little chance he is signed. Högberg is a better prospect -- good wheels, decent first pass, decent defender -- but I wouldn't lose any sleep over not signing him, either. Only so many contracts to go around. Would like to see Kalynuk signed but he is no slam dunk prospect, either.

Thanks
Given the current state of the Phantom's D-corp, I figured they would bring them over to replenish depth between the AHL and ECHL squads. I know Bernhardt dealt with injuries and is a defensive dman but maybe his game translates better on a NA sized rink.

I’m still wondering if the continuation of 19-20 ever happens. So now the play-in and round robin games don’t begin until August 1st at the earliest? Let’s do the math:

Round one begins no sooner than August 8th and ends no sooner than August 19th

Round 2 won’t likely end before Sept 1st

Conf. finals won’t end before Sept 14th

The SCF, even if it’s a sweep, likely doesn’t end before Sept 22 and a 7 game series could stretch to Sept 28.

So, then what, an October draft and start to FA? A 20-21 season that begins in December and runs well into July (which NBC will strongly oppose due to their Olympic coverage)?

I think we are one more delay away from the inevitable cancellation of the 19-20 season.

I don't know why, if they're going to play without fans, they don't just start training camp right now. What's the point of waiting that long? I don't get it. If they're going to push it back that far, just cancel the damned thing and start up the regular season as usual with fans.

For the record, nobody ever has to say that here.

Correction. People do have to say that here.

There are a lot of people involved with making this happen and a lot of unknowns. They’d like to do this as safely as possible. It’s going to take time. There are no guarantees that everything will be back to normal in October. Why not finish the season? I’m frustrated too. I’m tired of waiting. I just want things to go back to normal too. Sometimes things are difficult. Doesn’t mean you just give up.

I agree, makes no sense. They should start training camps very, very soon. It's not going to be any safer in July and August than it is now. Just drove by my local Wal-Mart. Hard to even find a parking space. What percentage of people are shopping for "essential" goods?

Not sure it’s a great idea to make decisions based on what Walmart shoppers are doing.
