No one thought he'd get away with what he did. It was on video.

So could millions of dollars of damage and looting have been prevented if they had have simply arrested the cop, at LEAST the one cop.

WTF was stopping them? Any private citizen would have been arrested immediately.

it may have helped, yes. Also the police not shooting tear gas and firing rubber bullets into crowds.

There is also video out there of some dude who does not look like one of the protesters..just kinda casually smashing windows.... its all fuked up

Seems plausible doesn't it?
Simply arrest the officer on the spot.

Heard interesting interview with head of production for SportsNet. They’re trying to figure out how to deal with audio for games. They’re discussing augmented audio of some kind but haven’t really decided how to proceed. They acknowledge that it will sound pretty empty with nothing but it will be challenging to add stuff authentically. Timing has to be be right, etc. How do they deal with home teams in neutral settings. They like that there will be more of sounds of skates, sticks but not what players are saying so much.

Doesn't work that way. That guy isn't a private citizen, he's a cop. There's a different procedure because his job creates a unique set of circumstances. Innocent until proven guilty and due process is the law of the land. The burden of proof is on the prosecution to make a jury believe beyond a reasonable doubt that he's guilty. That means they have to do everything in their power to gather all the right evidence and follow all the procedures to guarantee they get a conviction. The people who have already made up their mind and think the cop is guilty actually benefit from the prosecution taking their time and making sure they follow all the steps so justice can be served.

Letting rioters get their way sets a bad example. Just reinforces the idea that all people have to do is destroy a bunch of poop and they get their way. A lot of innocent, hard working people lost their property who had nothing to do with this.

Could have been ANTIFA which has a reputation for being idiotic in situations like this. Could have also been an agent provocateur. Cops have been known to leave a dummy vehicle to let people destroy, then things escalate and then they come in with rubber bullets and tear gas to clear people out. Pretty sure they did that in Toronto when they had their riots.

Just let the families and employees sit in the stands. They've been doing that for wrestling events and even though it's not like it normally is, it creates just enough sound to make it less "empty".

Wouldn’t create enough sound to have an impact for t.v, audience. They’ve started using augmented audio for Bundesligue.

It's disgusting to see how many people are either in full support of or apologists to the rioting and looting.

People seem to think it's just a big business like Target that went up in flames. There's dozens of shops and businesses, one owned by a firefighter and others owned by regular people that had nothing to do with anything that got destroyed for no good reason.

I’ve talked to Judges and Crown Attorney’s and none of these things precluded moving more quickly to make an arrest. That video provided more than enough evidence to show probable cause that a crime had been committed which all that is needed. Nothing requires beyond a reasonable doubt in laying a charge and police and prosecutors always continue to investigate after charges have been laid.

The prosecutors blew it with their press conference yesterday which was hastily called and then delayed which left the impression that they were going to make a major announcement. Instead the only news was “there s evidence that supports not laying a charge” or something along those lines. Just shut up in that situation.

Trump is such a wussy. Holds a press conference on leaving WHO, doesn’t mention Minneapolis after suggesting looters should be shot and is too much of a coward to take questions.

The people you talked to aren't American, they don't live in that state or in that city. The entire incident didn't start when that video started. It's a cop. There's always going to be benefit of the doubt on their side of the story because of their job and they're always going to protect their own law enforcement. People just can't start rioting and looting because there isn't an instant action.
