It doesn't matter where the games are played. If the Leafs were playing the Lightning, you don't have to play it at 7 pm on the East Coast. You can play it at 4 pm on the West Coast - as long as it's played at 7 pm EST, the actual location of the game doesn't matter.

Yeah, Mirtle was reporting that as well. I wasn’t suggesting urgency only that there’s no way if guessing timing yet.

I also wonder if they hope later start increase chances of there being fans in stands.

I think that’s the biggest thing. They can do 7 game series if they want because they can push next season down the road and hopefully get fans in the seats.

I think it would be pretty cool. I don’t think the cleaning bill would be to crazy in the whole scheme of things.

Also has anyone played hockey in an empty arena? I’ve played a few games in the London knights arena with no fans obviously and you lose sight of the puck a lot when it’s in the air because it blends in with the black seats.

Oh hells, yeah.

Used to play in Ricoh - hated playing defence. If a guy would take the puck from behind the net and ring it off the boards (a.k.a., the Pat Burns breakout), you would have to duck - several guys over the years got hit.

Somebody had a great idea for the regular season if there are no fans of allowing maybe 100 or so fans in as contest winners spread around the arena. Would be cool for the playoffs if each team playing had some but flying fans in and having them stay in hotels, etc would be too complicated.

Maybe teams will simulate crowd noise. Like in Toronto, it will sound like people eating caviar and drinking over priced wine. In Florida, there would be no need to simulate crowd noise. The empty arena would sound the same as it did before the pause.
