Holograms of fans? Have the entire plexiglass front giant tv screens close to it, which will show footage of home team fans from past games?
Hell, we could even have different sections do the wave.
The possibilities are endless. |

I’m hearing there’s a machine that they’re gonna fill with hats. And if there’s a hat-trick the machine will launch those hats into the rink. |

#2 - I would think all other options would create a delay that would be weird - 2 seconds after a big save the crowd cheers ??
When you log into the app - you have to select what team you are cheering for to help with the home ice advantage. Not sure a technology exists that allows for thousands of people to call in to a conference call though?? |

It seems there are 2 types of fans.
1) Those that want to watch the games and understand the nuances.
2) Those who want to wear virtual reality goggles, listen to crowd noises, and try to catch a $6 T-shirt that the mascot throws into Section 212. This group also claims to be strutting around on the ice during Cup celebrations when they are really sitting on the couch wearing virtual goggles. Do the goggles also simulate getting texts from players? |

As someone who watches wrestling, they have been doing their jobs without fans since the beginning of March, and it's been clear from the get go that the require fans to make the product better and take away from some of the more noticable bad wrestling that's taking place, this proves they need fans to distract from mistakes and such. As for a fan of hockey overall, and someone who loves the plays, the hits, the game that is actually taking place, the lack of fans will not effect this amazing sport in anyway, sure you won't have that energy of a pumped up arena, but the players are still going to be motivated to give it their all, they are playing for the stanley cup, the hardest trophy in sports to win. Stop trying to add things to an already great game that without fans sure they lose revenue but they dont lose their passion and desire to win the stanley cup. |

As a leafs fan I watch on mute anyway. Listening to Hughson and Simpson spew their biased inanities on TV is not good for my blood pressure. Seriously why do we have to put up
With those clowns?
Give me Bowen and Ralph from the radio any day. I’d listen to them and watch but the radio feed is ahead of the tv delay. I don’t know how to sync them up. |

Those ideas may give the fans a sense of participation, but something like canned crowd noise isn't going to give a team much "home ice advantage," IMO. Crowd noise is simply an expression of the fan energy. It's the fan energy that gives home teams a small advantage, not the crowd noise, itself. This isn't Pavlov's dog, where simply the sound of the dinner bell makes the dog salivate. Simply the sound of a crowd isn't going to motivate the players. They're smart enough to know that it's not real, to know that they're not in their home arena and to look up and see that no one is in the stands. |

#2 is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. You can't give people that kind of power. Remember when Mountain Dew asked people to vote online for the name of the new flavour they had coming out? The #1 voted name was "Hitler Did Nothing Worng". You can't just have any and all kinds of animals calling in to do or say God knows what. |

The only concern the NHL will have is if there's no arena sounds, they'll get all the players cursing in the mics. If they have a hashtag it'll take all of 5 minutes before a bot takes over and some moron put something inappropriate on the screen etc just like with the Miller racism event. |

Canned crowd noise is a horrible idea. An unequivocally bad idea.
JUst accept the reality of the situation and play it straight. What is difficult about that?
It will be far more interesting and engrossing to actually hear what the players and coaches are saying on the ice with NO crowd noise.
Like NFL mic'd up, except you don't need mikes. - patenaude
Not to mention it's ripe for abuse. Some chuckle-head will have a bot farm set up and spam the sh¡t out of the broadcast.

Can't wait to use my new VR headset to watch the virtual audience that the NHL and networks aren't going to project for me.
Great advice, Ek. |

But this is a way to tell people you were on the ice for 14 different Cup presentations. 100% worth the money! |

Maybe they can try to get really creative. So let's say the home team is Nashville and the visiting team is maybe Vancouver. Well to make Nashville feel at home they can play country music and send the aroma of southern BBQ into the Calgary dressing room. So Calgary will know they are in foreign territory. Or maybe if Philly is the home team they can have their mascot running around the empty stadium. David Poile will volunteer for any job that involves running around an empty stadium.
Just keep thinking of new ideas while ignoring the very obvious home ice advantage - last change, better matchups, faceoff advantages, etc... |

Shocked that the obvious has not been stated for the telephone/twitter options ... imagine a Nashville-Arizona game filled by chants of GO LEAFS GO |

Tom Brady would just under inflate the puck and Belichik would tape the other teams practice.

Just cancel the season already and focus efforts on starting the '20-'21 on time. Ridiculous plan |
